I can't effing believe that with all the forums in all the internet, there is no-one who has thought of a tube or hose to port away the exhalation airflow.
Pardon my effing french here, but can anyone on this whole effing globe think at all? Are government indoctrination centers so unlike the things that used to be called schools that NO-ONE ever comes out able to think? I'm not hating on innovative people out there in end user land, mostly there are professionals that design and manufacture this (extremely overpriced) crap. You people out there are supposed to have effing PHDs. Evidently they're not worth a degree you'd find inside a crackerjack box. Actually the crackerjack degree might be a little more valuable, because at least it would indicate that you can open an effing box.
Help me out here people. So with a CPAP I really do sleep the sleep of the angels. But is there even ONE effing CPAP mask that has a hose to port away the air. The only thing I could find was a full face mask with a baffle to at least diffuse the air.
Think how much easier that would make things. It wouldn't bother a spouse or make your hand or arm cold. You could then put the bedclothes over your head without making it colder under there. NO?
Is there one resourceful individual out there that even has a DIY version he can share. Or am I effing on my own? Well. I'm going to jury-rig my mask (I use the things in the nose kind of mask. So, it just goes over the nose and has a few straps that hold it on. But it needn't really matter what kind of mask you have. The port usually has little holes in it, I guess I can hot-glue a hose around those, and or something else even fancier.
Hey public school puppies out there with PHDs! (or without) I realize you have a WONDERFULLY long list of things about which to feel guilty; but that is indoctrination NOT education. How about you think before you design something? I realize most of you don't have to wear this shit, yourselves. But damn....
Sorry if I'm hurting your delicate lil' self esteems, I realize you all got awards for doing nothing all through school. So why should you expect to have to perform at your effing jobs?!?! Well, you effing do! Stop sucking and I'll stop castigating you.
Alright I'll stop ranting. It's just that it's often the only way to get attention on forums.
I was thinking, for example, that I could mount a much smaller tube inside the positive pressure tube and use that for exhalation. That tube could then run inside the main tube until it was well out of the way of my arm, or my wife's face--almost to the machine itself. At that point, I could cut a small hole in the pressure hose, and route the tube out of it, and seal it well, perhaps with some more hot glue. Once that was in place, then I could block off the regular exhalation ports. I wouldn't glue it shut but just put some kind of tape over the inside; that way, I'm not burning my bridges if it doesn't work. I could then add a one way valve in case of a power failure. Although why the mental giants at respiratory centers never suggested the use of a UPS on their machine, I'll never understand. I've used one from the beginning. It only makes sense. Plus, it beeps and wakes you up if the power goes out.
I'll post with the results of my experiment.
But... I'm just saying here, I searched this forum and came up with very few hits, except for one public school puppy begging someone not to alter his machine because of factors which are completely addressable by good engineering. Suck it, you hyphenated studies, idiots!!

Why don't you 'suck it up' and take your 'effing' comments to another forum?

Re: Exhalation tube or hose
Who messed up your cornflakes this morning? Exhalation is not a problem for me, my mask is well designed.
Your language and over the top rhetoric gives little credence to your comments, how about a well reasoned argument?
Perhaps your searches have turned up no studies/comments on this because most of us are intelligent enough to manage our machine interface.
Develop the product, get a patent and sell it if your idea is cutting edge and innovative.
Your ranting makes no sense and makes you sound like a nut or worse- and I just realized this- a TROLL.
You just registered today and haven't taken the time to fill in your equipment profile which is one sign of a serious forum member- do that and post your results and experiments, please.

Re: Exhalation tube or hose
be sure to have your last will and testament up to date before experimenting with your air flow. i suspect that if you lengthen the time it takes to expell used air by means of some home made tube concoction, you make it more difficult to expell said air. by making it more difficult to expell, you increase your chance of co2 poisoning, along with changing the whole pressure dynamic of the set up. there's a reason the air comes in thru a tube and directly out of the mask. hopefully your loved ones won't learn the reason thru your mistake. are you the same guy that in another forum suggested drilling out the air vent holes so the air would escape easier?

Re: Exhalation tube or hose
So, I'm guessing the better half reamed you good for blowing cold air on her all night.
--So point the flow the OTHER way! That's what we do.
Spooning is still possible, but the blower needs to point away from the cuddle.
Too much hardware introduces other problems--like CO2 buildup, hiding places for mice and insects, etc.

Re: Exhalation tube or hose
Wouldnt the exit hose need to be the same width as the main hose in order to be effective? Also, I think the pressure would be affected regardless. The PR1 machines allow you to select the length of hose because it affects the pressure.. This is sensitive stuff.
Regardless, I'm interested to see how it turns out for you. Please return with pictures and share your results. Just be careful.
