Well, 7 days have passed, and I think it is going well....I don't think my sleep apnea is nearly as severe as many here, but the last time I tried CPAP I just could not get used to it (about 3 years ago) and gave up. This time around, a lot quieter machine (I am very noise sensitive) and different mask style seems to have made all the difference. Also, the last time I had a machine, getting to the DME was difficult so making changes was a challenge. Now there is a local office so that has made things much easier to adjust/change. Anyways...here are the first 7 days results summary and a typical night - all the night charts look very similar in the reports. I would be interested in any comments...I have not brought the data back yet for my first follow-up appointment (that happens in another week or so), but I think going in pre-armed with a bit of "internet education" may help me with questions/answers etc when I go.

Congratulations! That looks like a fantastic first week! Keep up the good sleep
Yes, that blue eyed beauty is my cat! He is a seal point, bi-color Ragdoll. I adopted him in '08 from folks who could no longer care for him. He is a joy and makes me smile each and every day.

An AHI of 2.7 is not bad. I range from 1 to 4 and above that, its awful. I don't feel like I slept. Welcome and I think you are on the right track.
EPAP min=6, EPAP max=15, PS min=3, PS max=12, Max Pressure=30, Backup Rate=8 bpm, Flex=0, Rise Time=1,
90% EPAP=7.0, Avg PS=4.0, Avg bpm 18.3, Avg Min vent 9.2 Lpm, Avg CA/OA/H/AHI = 0.1/0.1/2.1/2.3 ... updated 02/17/12

Grant,
It would be interesting to see your pressure level on that graph. It appears that your bottom pressure number is 6, but your 90th percentile is in the 8 to 9 range, with your max being only slightly higher. APAP machines take time to ramp up from a low pressure to a high enough pressure to knock down apnea events. It is possible that your events come on suddenly and the machine cannot ramp up fast enough to treat the items contributing to the AHI number. This suggests that it might be worth a try to bring up that lower number, perhaps having it start at 8. A range from 8 to 14, or even a little tighter such as 8.5 to 12.5 would be worth a try.

John, ask and you shall receive...(here is last night). Thanks for taking the time to throw out some possible concerns/improvements. Exactly the stuff a newbie needs. Makes sense and I'll bring up these points when I bring in the machine/data for my first follow-up.

Hi GrantT,
I am still kinda new to this CPAP thing (tomorrow will be 3 weeks for me) I see that you listed "Testing Sleepyhead 0.9.2 vs F&P InfoSmart 1.1 SP1. Can you tell me which one your using for these graphs? I like how clean cut the graphs are.
Thank you for your help.

Hi Trixie,
These are the graphs I snipped from the quick report that the InfoSmart software produces. I just bring my data card with me to work, plug it in, and look at the report....I just "snip" them and upload them to the WEB for posting on sites like this....
I don't the think the Sleepyhead software works correctly yet with the data from my F&P Icon Auto..I get some weird results. The machine is NOT on the supported list yet though....still says "coming soon".
The F&P Infosmart software is very large...it is actually a client/server app, really designed more for a sleep therapy shop than home use...support for multiple user configurations, mutliple machine configurations etc....but it works well once you get it installed..but it has a large footprint on the computer and the background database services suck up memory/CPU cycles. I would prefer to use Sleepyhead for it's simple/fast operation...but still working on that.

I think the most important item on your return to the doc is have your symptoms improved.
