OT: The tyranny of light

Post by tetragon » Mon Feb 13, 2012 6:39 am

Last week, the light in my apartment burnt out.  That is less than ideal, and since I kept forgetting to buy new batteries for my flashlight, my main light source became a somewhat dim floor lamp.  Even now, after finally getting the batteries (after multiple trips to shops for the express and sole purpose of buying them and coming out with stuff that I'd need eventually, but no batteries), that lamp is still the main light source.  But it is a bit easier to put on my boots with the lantern, as the floor lamp is at the other end of the apartment.

It seems that the floor lamp isn't bright enough to keep me awake.  I don't normally end up in bed and sleeping at 7pm. Why, insufficiently-bright lamp, why.  Why can't you be bright enough?  I don't want to end up having to spend each night away from my apartment until I want to sleep, or daylight savings, whichever comes first.

But that did lead to me finding that I don't feel any more rested after getting a few more hours of sleep than usual, this time with the extras at the start of the night.
