Problems using a 12v adapter with responics remstar M series

Post by karm » Sat Feb 11, 2012 9:33 pm

When I connect the 12v adapter to the deep cycle battery, the cpap machines lights come on briefly, before turning itself off, seconds later. Then it keeps cycling on and off, repeatedly, with next to no air flow. Using the machine without the humidifier results in the same situation. Anyone had this problem or know how to solve it? My partner and I are going camping next weekend. Since I have severe sleep apnoea, we want to have this problem solved in the next 5 days. Can anyone help ASAP? Thanks heaps, in advance for your suggestions.

Mine runs fine on a 12v battery. The only things I can think of is low battery or reversed wires. I think someone else on here had the same problem.

What kind of adapter is this? , he asks. Have you charged this battery yet? To it's FULL capacity?

I agree it sounds like a low battery. Try plugging it into your car. Feel the wire - is it getting warm? A thin wire (too small a gauge) will also limit the current available to this machine.

The adaptor has to have the ability to carry the load, usually rated at 12 volt 2 Amps, if the wires are too small they can't carry the load. Jim
