Trouble/Leaks with Forma FF
Trouble/Leaks with Forma FF
I feel like a Cpap failure. no matter what full face mask I use, i have issues. I was given the Forma 10 days ago. I put it on and sometimes it appears to work, but during the night I wake up and try to adjust it. Major leaks and noises start. I can't get it too fit without leaks. Hard to deal with it at 1:30 AM so I end up taking it off. I'm also a mouth breather. Last night i taped my mouth, put on a Remzz and went to sleep. Woke in the early AM with all the problems. Wearing a chin strap didn't help either. Do you think this mask can work for me? Help Judy

Hi Judy,
As one struggling with leaks with Quattro FFX mask, I feel your pain. Please don't feel like a failure as mask issues are one of the top problems with cpap treatment if I remember correctly.
Are you working with a DME? If yes, I understand you usually have 30 days to return it, right?
Another option is to go this site, http://www.padacheek.com/PAC_AntiLeak_Strap.html as it works with your mask. Moderators, if I am violating rules by posting commercial links, please forgive me.
Since I can't return my mask, if I can't resolve my leak problems, this will be my next option.
I thought I was a mouth breather too. But I am still wondering if nasal type masks might work better for me. When I am ready to get a new one, I might buy one that has a 30 day return policy.
Anyway, someone on this site, (can't remember where) wrote a blog entry about not assuming you are a mouth breather. Do a search of the archives when you get a chance.
Hang in there.

Re: Trouble/Leaks with Forma FF
I used the Forma mask for a while and it was the only ffm that worked for me. It was problematic until I used the above mentioned anti-leak strap from padacheek. It's not made specifically for the forma but it did the trick. I also used multiple layers of remzzz's liners. My sleep doc suggested the multiple layers. He said that he uses them himself, up to 7 at a time! I never used that many but the combo of strap and liners was good. I liked the forma because it didn't leave as many marks on my face in the am. The Quattro FX was terrible for that.
The remzzz's are expensive but they can be reused many times. You can also make liners out of old t shirt material. I am no longer using the forma and could put a few liners into the mail for you. PM me with your address if you want some.
I am currently using Mirage FX nasal mask and really like it. I also use blue painters tape (2080 or 2080el) as well as a chin strap. A bit much but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
The goal should be to become a nasal breather but not everyone can accomplish that.
Good luck! Everyone is so different with their mask needs.
