Weight loss? WTF? It's either Facehugger or a Tapeworm
'Cause I don't even know how to spell "diet"
Note: I DID try a vegetarian diet - green olives, mozerella sticks, jalapeno poppers, potato skins (hold the bacon bits), onion rings, french fries,.. ...that sort of thing, didn't work too well, seems like no matter how many deep fried cheese sticks I was hoarking down, I STILL was packing on the pounds. (go figure, I thought this veggie thing was supposed to be a sure bet)
When I started with the machine I was hitting the mark at right about 200 lbs (stand 6 foot) - pretty active so never really developed a gut, but no six pack abs either - probably weighed 170ish in high school so took me a couple decades to pick up the 30lbs or so.
After about 6 months with Facehugger found I was using a different notch on the belt - didn't think much of it at the time because I have always bumped up and down 5-10lbs - depending on how many $1 beer nights I hit and how many honey-do's wifey has me out climbing ladders or hanging drywall.
Fast forward to this week, finally jumped on a scale because had to put on a suit for wedding and found it seemed really big....180lbs.........180 freaking lbs!!!!.....wooohooo.....immediately called a brother to ridicule him as a pathetic "fatty" (quid pro quo) and he points out that it is probably a tape worm or some other parasite - gotta love family.
Must be the machine, cause I have been living it up.....Superbowl was an epic case of overindulgence for example - bacon wrapped bacon and giant chocolate chip cookies were entrees as I recall - and there wasn't a "lite" beer in the house.
Anyway - wonder if I can get in on one of those infomercials, come up with some before and after pics - "Lose weight while you sleep.....badly" - awesome.
Mac.

Congratulations! Many of us have found it easier to manage our weight once we start using the 'facehugger'.

I've been noshing on a Pure Protein bar for the last 2 hours--still haven't finished it.
Only 8 pounds went off without effort; but the rest wasn't too hard.
Moderate setback due to holiday abundance--reset totally doable.
I love this machine.
I slept 10 hours last night and my sunuses are so very much better.
Cats know how sleep helps them heal--finally, I, too can use their medicine.

Glad to hear of all your success! I've gained 10 lbs since starting on CPAP. Had really hoped I could lose 10-15. Now I really do need to diet. Shucks, Food tastes good.

So not fair! I'll take 15 lbs... but so far, that hasn't happened either!msradar65 wrote:Woot!! I took have lost about 30 lbs in the past few months..and I haven't done anything different. Its the face hugger!!

Sorry, but you're wrong. It's the space aliens again. They're taking a lot of tissue samples.

Facehugger?
That's a new word for me... I will include it in my apnea dictionary.
Facehugger...hmm...now I think I will smile all night with the mask on my face. It sounds like a german word...

Congrats!
And on the practical side: research is now being done on the effects of chronic sleep deprivation (voluntary deprivation--not specifically OSA related) and guess what is consistently being found? PEOPLE GAIN WEIGHT WHEN THEY ARE CHRONICALLY SLEEP DEPRIVED. Metabolism changes. People eat more high carb food seeking energy. Go figure.
Sounds like your body and metabolism are normalizing after being sleep deprived... good for you!
Weezy

McSnoresalot,
Gosh, how I wish that a 20 lb weight loss had been my experience!!! But good for you!!
You haven't mentioned if being on cpap translated into having a lot more energy, and if you exercised more or were generally more active?
I didn't notice an energy boost after starting cpap almost a year ago, but I just found out this week that I have a severe vitamin D deficiency, so I'm addressing that & hopefully will notice a change...
I encourage anyone who still feels low energy after being on cpap for a while to check vitamin D levels.
