'Nother terrible DME

Post by Bons » Thu Feb 09, 2012 10:07 pm

Hubby went to pick up his new apap without me today. I'm going back to the DME tomorrow and throwing a major fit. He came home with a Remstar! I can hardly wait to see what they are charging him to take that obsolete item off their hands.

a legacy, an M series, or what?

if it's a PR S1 it's still a Remstar and it's just as new as an S9

Remstar is a brand name, not a model number... it may be perfectly fine.

Remstar M with APAP is still full data in an auto. Hard for us to know if the algorithm is as up to date as the one used for the System One Auto Set. I would take the M over the newest Respironics with Auto IQ, which turns off the auto feature after a month.

Wow...older model than the M series which came on the scene in 2007. That one must have been sitting around for a while on the shelf.

I imagine it was the Remstar Legacy model we call the "tank". Pre M series. Unless it was dirt cheap I can't imagine any DME trying to sneak that one by to someone. The Legacy machines are easily spotted and there is no mistaking them.

Will be interesting what their excuse for this might be. If it was brand new zero hours....doesn't say much for their inventory turn around unless it was hidden back in a corner forever.

I don't consider the REMstar M Seies Auto to be full data. There's no waveform data. By the way, Mr. Bons got a Legacy REMstar auto, not even an M series.

Bons, I expect to see a YouTube video of a toad shoving a legacy REMstar down someone's throat.

LOL!!!
Hey! I love my ancient remstar auto!
I know most people prefer the PRS1 Auto(I have two, and an M series) but I still like it. I still cross reference it with the PRS1 every now and then, just to make sure it's still giving me proper therapy.

I'm working on a deal with the DME that we take it for what our insurance company reimburses for several months. Since we are losing our health insurance at the end of June (can only afford to cobra it that long if hubby doesn't get another job) it's better to have an old pap than no pap.
