Has this ever happened to anyone?
Has this ever happened to anyone?
I hadn't checked my data for about three months because things seemed fine. Yesterday I finally checked, and boy....was I surprised!
I have had 0 (yes, zero!) AHI/AI for about two and a half months now! Every single night. Yikes! What happened?
I know my machine is still working because the leak levels changes slightly every night (all very good), and the data is different on the flow, flow limitations, and snore lines every night.
I've been running my machine in cpap at 10.6 for about 5 months now. So last night I put it back onto apap and set the range at 9.5 to 13. The 95% was 10.9. I know that one night doesn't a trend make, but that one night seems to indicate that my 10.6 cpap pressure is good and I probably don't need to lower it or change it. I'm going to lower my bottom range to 8 tonight and see what the 95% is. If it's still near 10.6, I'll just switch back to cpap mode.
My AHI had gotten very good about a year ago, consistently below 1, and there were often 3 or 4 nights a week with 0 AHI. But this is just plain weird and I don't understand it. While I'm not complaining about it, I'm very curious. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Re: Has this ever happened to anyone?
Yup. It's not all that surprising. Remember that as you apply the pressure, it also helps train your body to breathe a little more normally. By sleeping better your body is better able to adjust. It's a positive feedback loop.
I've seen the same thing happen with my ASV unit. I rarely have apneas. Of course, the ASV unit tends to jump in long before a problem would arise. But I know my breathing is more regular and easier when I use my ASV unit. (Sometimes when I awaken in the middle of the night, I am surprised at how well I am breathing).
Let's just hope you are able to continue this great trend!

So, I gather you are making changes to optimize your leak levels?
It looks like you are doing great!
--unless, or course your leaks are very high (which could skew your event reporting.)
Good going/luck/sleep, etc.

I average around a .4 - .6 AHI on most nights, but about 2 or 3 times a month, I'll get a 0 AHI, 0 Central incidents and 0 apnea incidents. What I have noticed is that I don't FEEL as good on those days, though. It's not that I feel real bad, but a subtle change. Go figure....

Unplug the power from your machine for a few minutes and see if you still get the same readings. I seem to recall some people getting bogus zero readings like this until they reboot the machine.

Re: Has this ever happened to anyone?
Seems like a few people have had their ResMed machines give them the exact same AHI for days and days.
Someone had AHI 0.0 for over 2 weeks and had their bubble busted when it was suggested that they unplug the machine and then plug it back in and force a reboot of the firmware. Try it tonight and see what tomorrow shows. Use your old machine settings though just so it is an apples to apples comparison.

I hadn't thought of rebooting....will definitely do that!
My leaks are really good...very low...so I know that isn't skewing anything.
Don't really notice a difference in how I feel. I'm still working on de-fragging my sleep more and getting better sleep, not to mention doing other things to feel better/get healthier.
It'll be interesting to see what happens to night after rebooting.

Re: Has this ever happened to anyone?
I am one (maybe the only one) that posted about 0 AHI. I still don't trust the numbers. Pugsy recommended rebooting on Jan 11. Since then, I unplug the machine when I take my card out to read it. I took the machine back to the DME on Jan 12. She called ResMed and they said it wasn't recording because my leaks were too high. I stopped taking off the mask before I turned off the machine and my leaks were under control. I exchanged the machine for a new one on Jan 26th.
Sleepy Head flags user events on the days ResMed says 0 events. SH user flags are set for 25% for 10 sec.
The DME was very nice about replacing the machine, but I still don't trust the 0 events. So I got the CMS50D+ to see if my sats were down on the days I had 0 events. The super low numbers are an artifact where I took the meter off for a minute in the middle of the night.
The power was out Jan 19 so I couldn't use it.

No, you aren't the only one with the machine reporting AHI of 0.0 for multiple nights. There have been several. There have been reports of people have various AHI numbers remaining constant for many, many nights...doesn't have to be stuck on zero...it can be stuck on any number.DrPepper00 wrote:I am one (maybe the only one) that posted about 0 AHI.
There is one guy that I am thinking of and he had AHI of 0.0 for over 2 weeks and a reboot of his machine brought the machine back to reporting random AHI numbers. While not impossible to get the same number night after night...it is highly improbable statistically to have the exact same thing show up night after night at the very same time.
Since it hurts nothing at all to try the reboot thing...might as well do it.

I do reboot it every day. I unplug it while I have my card out. If I felt better, I might trust the numbers, but I don't feel any better than I did before I started.Pugsy wrote: Since it hurts nothing at all to try the reboot thing...might as well do it.

Re: Has this ever happened to anyone?
I didn't mean for someone to have to unplug and replug every day....just once to see if the stuck number resolved itself. If it didn't...further investigation. I know your DME said your leak was high but I sure didn't see it on the reports that I saw. Is your machine still stuck on same AHI and never varying and still showing okay leaks? If so, that is not normal.DrPepper00 wrote:I do reboot it every day. I unplug it while I have my card out. While it is common not to see any marked improvement for a while, if you can't trust the data you see then it sure creates a problem. You don't know if something else is going on or your machine is faulty.
Again, while not impossible to see the same set of data each and every night...it sure is highly unusual and the law of probabilities makes it very unlikely. A few nights maybe but not every single night.
When we see good data (that we can trust) and we still feel not so hot...time to look at the other things that can impact how we feel each day that are unrelated to OSA and there is a whole lot of things that can mess with how we feel.

Re: Has this ever happened to anyone?
Dr.... Pepper / Weezy.... : I know it would be a hassle, but call your DME and explain your situation. Ask if they have a loaner, a used or display machine (data capable... of course) and see if they will "loan" it to you for one or two nights. See what that machine says and work from there. I know it would take several trips and hassle... but it will tell you if it's the machine or you or both. Just a thought.
