S9 Vpap Adapt - does not report OA's ?

Post by bemused » Wed Feb 08, 2012 4:14 pm

Couple questions on the S9 Vpap Adapt. After 5 days AHI has progressed 9.7, 5.3, 6.9, 0.0, 0.0
(PSG AHI was 83 [70% OA], titration best RDI was 27, hence 2 week trials on S9 Adapt and PR Avaps)

Wonderful results so far, but.. no OA reported (used Sleepyhead and ResScan) just Apneas and Hypopneas. No snoring but not a single OA in five days? Presumably S9 Adapt does not differentiate apnea types?? Hmm.. you'd think for that kind of money...

Unrelated curiosity question - flow rate. I see the Adapt instantly increases pressure during each breath that has a low flow rate, I don't understand why that increased pressure does not instantly increase flow rate. Ipap goes up from 12cm to 17cm, is that not high enough to force a breath? What pressure is high enough?

Just trying to understand how this all works on Centrals, searched the forums but not seen much discussion on the mechanics of it. It does seem to have made my breathing more consistent after just a few days, far fewer 'High, Low, Stop, repeat' sequence of breaths. Yes, I know its far too early to draw conclusions.

Won't bore you with lots of graphs but I'll post samples if anyone is interested. I'm blown away by the resolution on the S9 data! Can't wait to compare it to the System One Avaps in a couple of weeks

I can't speak to the S9 but my PR System 1 shows 1 obstructive apnea every few days. You may have been lucky the first few days.
Seriously, maybe some S9 users or AVAPS users can help you out. Welcome and I hope one of the machines works out for you!

I think you'll find your answer in this topic.
