Health Insuance Reject due to Sleep Apnea

Post by kyyoung78746 » Wed Feb 08, 2012 9:23 am

My health insurance was rejected due to sleep apnea. I have read from previous posting that someone was accepted after providing the name of the sleep specialist to the insurance agent. Does anyone have the similar experience and can share the name of the insurance company and the insurance agent.

Check with your state government. They have programs for people who lost their insurance and are refused insurance by private companies. Each state has a different program but you may be able to get a good policy through the state. You will need a written statement that you were declined.

Good luck sweetie.

Get your doctor to write a letter indicating that your OSA is controlled with CPAP and that you are compliant. File an appeal with the insurance company. This sometimes helps.

Why are you applying for insurance now. Were you laid off of your job? Have you checked on Cobra?

Check this plan if necessary.

When Obama care kicks in health care companies will not be able to reject you for current or former illness.

Thanks for all the good suggestions. My COBRA will expire pretty soon.
Both state (at least for Texas) and federal provide insurance for pre-existing condition. However the premium is much higher than typical individual insurance. I already got a letter from my sleep specialist. I like to know if anyone knows an agent or insurance company so that I don't need to shop around.

What about keeping the employer plan that is covered by Cobra? Probably expensive, but keep it until you find another. Why did you wait so long...Isn't Cobra 18 months - 2 years?

More than likely it won't be covered and they will just fit you for a pine box.

You might check out Dr Andrew Rubin's website or his SiriusXM show Healthcare connect.
They might have some suggestions. Hope it helps.

Guys; please, let's just address the OP's question and rant in an OT thread?

So, some poor guy with no insurance is just a JOKE with you guys?
There but for the grace of God, go I, or you, or any one of us!. . . . Please!

chunky, I don't hate these guys. I don't have the time for that. But I do hate the ruinous policies they are promoting.

Read one of the best articles I have seen - The Real Trouble With the Birth-Control Mandate, http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000142 ... 55906.html.

This shows just one of the disastrous parts of Obamacare. Many more will be found. If this bill is not repealed disaster will befall medical care in the U.S. No one will be pleased.

hobbs, Have you no shame to play the race card? Or did you mean that as satire?

BTW, I have customers in 37 states and have done repeat business with most of them. My customers are of many races. I am received cordially everywhere I go and have many long term relationships. Get off your racist soapbox. It is counterproductive to a good situation.
