Possible S9 Autoset replacement

Post by rozenbob » Tue Feb 07, 2012 6:06 pm

I am encountering a few minor issues with my S9, when I telephoned Resmed..they implied that I call DME for adjustment/replacement.

1) After the unit has been running a few minutes, I feel/hear a pulsing in the airflow (about 2 to 3 pulses per second) noticed during any long exhale or inhale cycles.

2) A low volume "whistle" when exhaling.

3) Sometimes the display remains illuminated...must shutdown and restart to extinguish.

1&2 have occurred with several different masks ( Quoattro FX Full Face, F&P432, Swift FX Nasal)( changed appropriate settings)

I switched to a standard hose (and setting) and noticed a slight reduction in the pulsing.

IF I do need to exchange the unit... will ReScan recognise/accept the new machine/card under the same patient id or should I swap data cards between the machines.

I think you should get the machine replaced. Others have noted some of the same sound issues but the causes have not been determined. I think for some users it's a case of overly sensitive hearing and pressure sensitivity that is somewhat greater than most users experience. And in other cases it very well may be a defective machine. The display staying lit, if it's for more than a minute or so, sounds like a true defect.

The new machine will reformat the card when you insert it so a new card may be better, but not necessary. Resscan will accept the data from both cards. Just make sure you download all the data off the old card before you insert it in the new machine or download off the new card. That way Resscan will keep the data from both in your original patient folder. If you need the data on the card for compliance review by your DME or doc, then you better use a new card.
