ComfortGel FFM and Flexible Tubing?

Post by BoomersRock » Sun Feb 05, 2012 7:49 am

The new mask I am trying, the ComfortGel FFM, fits the ClimateLine connection fine but not my Respironics tubing. The interface on the mask is much smaller. Does Respironics make a different size flexible tube besides 622038. I think this size is all we ever had.

Is there different sized tubing out there?

is this a better mask than the resmed mirage quattro or fit for life?
I keep waking up with the resmed disconnected to the hose and feeling terrible. maybe I need a new mask?

The comfort gel full face mask has a quick disconnect ring.
This is a little pale blue ring about 1" long that snaps onto the front of the mask while being able to swivel.
This part fits into any air hose, including Climateline.
Is that part is missing? I had one DME that handed me an opened mask--that part was missing.
I refused to leave until they gave me that part.
It is an ESSENTIAL part of the mask.
I have tried to use other masks with the quick connect attached to the hose, too.

The DME opened the mask; I didn't see an extra part. The Climateline fit the mask without an extra part but my oyher Resperonics hoses are to big for the connection.

Respironics does sell a 15 mm hose but the couplings on both ends are standard size diameter and not smaller.

Have you looked at the replacement parts list for the mask to see if you have all the parts?

Sounds like you are missing a piece.

Hi Pugsy,

My mask looks like this; the connector is clear plastic and part of the mask. The link to the CPAP webiste shows the Elbow Valve assembly has a gray connection. The Tube Swivel may be the extra part. I didnt' see what came in the mask package. Normally there are extra parts. I don't think they gray part integrated with the ClimateLine which is gray at both ends. If make this mask change permanent, it needs to be able to connect to non-ClimateLine hoses, the hoses I been using all along. Geez they make this complicated!

It should work with the standard hose. I am thinking something is missing but never having used this mask I don't have any way to know what is missing. Pretty much all the masks out there will work with all standard hoses without adapters and if they don't there is usually an adapter to make the change.
If it were me I would be taking the mask and the hose to the DME and asking them why it doesn't fit and asking if perhaps when they opened the package they lost or forgot the adapter. There may be an adapter that isn't shown on the replacement parts page that I linked to at cpap.com. I just couldn't find any other place that showed a list of parts for that model mask.

The mask I tried had a quick connector over the clear plastic tube, that was grey. You should see two squeeze releases on either side of it, that's where it latches in. Assuming there's nothing for those to hold into place, it sounds like it's missing the quick hose release.

The release is a little grey piece that's smooth aside from two locking ridges at the very top. If you don't have it, I'm guessing the hose probably wouldn't be able to spin back and forth on the connection either, without pulling free (Not the 360 elbow, but just the hose portion of the quick connect.

This guy's video talks about it actually, shows the part fairly well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ti7zl9twNz4 It's right around the four minute mark. Hope this helps.

I have had my Respironics quick connect piece stay in the Climateline hose--preventing me from attaching another hose to that mask
or that hose to a different mask.
I just don't use the quick connect, leaving it attached to the mask, and removing the hose in the normal manner--wiggling it.
The part that detaches on mine is pale blue.

Oh Chunky Frog, you are BRILLIANT! Came right out of the ClimateLine just now when I looked at it again. Last night it sure looked like it was part of the CL hose. AND my other hose fits it fine! You guys (girls) are just so SMART! Thank you for your collective wisdom!
