first week went well but now having leak problems :(

Post by kwcrnp » Sat Feb 04, 2012 1:42 pm

Ok so I thought I was doing so well until the past 2 nights. My AHI has been under 1.8 and leaks low, even the past 2 nights. But I keep waking up because of a small leak
by my eyes.

If I lay on my back, all is good. But when I turn on my side I get a leak by my eye just as I drift into sleep (and I guess relax enough). Its a small leak that mainly happens when I exhale but its enough to wake me up (very light sleeper). I could live with the leak if I slept through it. I don't understand why it was fine for a week and now not. I tightened my head gear a little but it still happened

Maybe one of those pad a cheek things will help??? Don't think it's the pillow as it isn't in contact with the mask when I wake up.

Any thoughts?

Pada cheek will definitley help. It will also increase your comfort level. Try one and see. Note that your face will relax at night and that's why the mask won't leak early on when you first go to sleep, but will get small leaks later on. Mine does it all the time. As long as your leak rates are small, don't worry about it. Do you get the leaks every night?

I only had noticeable leaks the past 2 nights. I didn't even change my head gear straps or anything before they started.

I was holding off on the pad a cheeks since I'm not uncomfortable in my mask but with my new leak issue I may have to get them. I'm trying to keep things as simple and easy as possible as long as it works and is comfortable. I just wish I would sleep through the small leaks!!

Few people reported leak by the eyes with Quattro FX, The original Quattro with the adjustable forehead dial might works better. Try other full face mask or nose mask.

I can't wear a nasal mask/pillows...chronic mouth breather since childhood (deviated septum). I was hoping to avoid the forehead thing. I was all
set for the hybrid masks but when I tried them WOW the nasal airflow was too much....before ramping The Quattro FX worked great at my study and all last week

If it continues to leak this weekend, I'll order the pad a cheeks.
