Last night I decided to use some Lanisoh cream to help keep my nasal mask in place. I believe it worked quite nicely! I found that I woke up less due to having to readjust the position of the mask. I put it on my skin around my nose where the silicone of the nasal mask would touch my face. Has anyone else done this? Since Lanisoh cream is very expensive does anyone know of a different cream or gel that would do the same? I wonder if this technique would help with people struggling to get a good seal with a FFM? Are there other little tips people have found to help seal masks or keep them from moving?

Lanisoh as a nasal mask glue??
Re: Lanisoh as a nasal mask glue??
Sung to the Harry Nilsson tune:
Put the lime in the coconut
Brother bought a cpap, because he could not stay awake
Brother got a mask, that attaches to his face.
He put the hose in the mask, and blows air all in his face.
He put the hose in the mask, but the air, it don't stay in place.
You put the Lanisoh on the mask and stick it to your face.
You stick the mask on your face, the air, it stays in place.
With the mask stuck on his face,
he called the doctor in the morning
and woke him all up....
And he say
"Doctor, ain't there nothing I can take for the this pain in my face,"
he say
"Doctor, ain't there nothing I can do to relieve this headache,"
he say
"Doctor, ain't there nothing I can do to get this mask off my face."
Doctor, he say,
"...now let me get this straight."
"You put the Lanisoh on the mask, that goes on your face....
and you stuck the mask in it's place,
and now you want to know....
how to get the mask unstuck from your face."
Doctor, he say,
"you such a silly guy!"
"You put the Lanisoh on the mask, that goes on your face....
and now the mask is part of you.
Yes, you can call me in the morning....
with this mask stuck to you.....
just don't call me in the morning...
and tell me you used Gorilla glue."

Re: Lanisoh as a nasal mask glue??
I've been experimenting with this too. I use a very tiny bit of the Lansinoh to improve the seal on my Opus pillows and it does help a lot with the seal. I haven't found anything else that is petroleum-free and has the stickiness that the pure lanolin (which is what Lansinoh is, I believe) has. I've seen other brands of pure lanolin in health food stores, and they were quite a bit less expensive than Lansinoh. I'll probably try one of those when my tube of Lansinoh runs out.
For the seal on a nasal mask I can't think of any downsides except possibly cost, or skin irritation if you developed a sensitivity to it. To help seal nasal pillows as I do, I'm careful to use really, really a very tiny amount, because if there was too much and any got inhaled and made it to the lungs it could cause lipid pneumonia (inhaling any fatty substance can get you that). So I try to make sure that there's only the barest film of it on the pillows where they touch my nose.

Love it, Carbonman.
I've done that with nasal pillows and another time with a full face mask.
It not only worked, but my nose/face was so SOFT in the morning!

Re: Lanisoh as a nasal mask glue??
Your tube of lansinoh will last you darn near a year.......so you see its not so expensive. If you paid $10 for the tube and it lasts 10 months . Just use a dab about the size of a pencil eraser, put some on the ourside of your nares and a smear just inside your nostrils.
