Spikes in Tidal Volume and Adapt ASV

Post by Oldern » Wed Feb 01, 2012 7:08 pm

Looking for:
1. Precise def. of Tidal Volume(TV)-(Volume during: inspiration or expiration, inspiration and expiration, between inspiration and/or expiration (I have seen both and/or.)
2. If normal is say 572, (from ResScan 3.xx which doesn't vary much over 3 month, 6 month or even a year-given that a normal is hard to define and/or evaluate) how can I have spikes (maximum) to 1700 and even close to 2000?
3. Your reaction to DME who says ". . . you shouldn't over analyze." This was when I asked her what the spikes meant.) I told her, "Surely you jest." This was after I realized she knew absolutely nothing about how much I had suffered and the trouble I went through to get treatment, and to get a machine that was data capable-thanks to the good folks on this forum. She never answered my question about the significance of the spikes and what the TV data represented. Surely she knew!
4. Directions for reading if nothing else. I searched the site and got 900 plus posts with the words "Tidal Volume" and have spent considerable time going through them. Nothing definitive yet.
5. Any comments from anyone as to how they read/interpret his or her TV data.
As always, Thank Yew!
"Edited (TD to TV)"

I hope you get an answer because I don't understand this either. I understand the math but not the meaning. What is "normal"? When should you be concerned? Mine seems low but what is too low?
