Hello everyone! I had my sleep study performed last August and they informed me that my AHI was over 50, which meant I was classified as having severe sleep apnea. Shortly following my titration procedure I was set up with my equipment. They explained all the equipment (see list below) and preset the pressure to 10 cmH2O. The first night (which was a Tuesday night) was uncomfortable and I really didn't get much sleep. I decided to wait until the weekend to start the process all over again. I waited one more day and decided that on Thursday night I would give it another shot. If I couldn't get to sleep I would give up after 3am so I could muddle through the Friday work day with some sort of sleep. Turns out, that was Friday the 13th and at around 4am I woke up sweating and felt like there wasn't much air getting through to my mask. Well low and behold, during the winter storm we were experiencing the power went out! So much for a good nights sleep and the CPAP therapy. Fast forward to last night, through adjusting the humidity level and a few other minor adjustments everything seems to be going pretty well after three weeks into this. I don't have that dead on my feet feeling that I had grown used to and I don't feel like dosing off at work anymore. I can't say that I feel like a new person but good things take time i believe.
I checked my AHI reading on my machine this morning and my average reading (for the past three weeks) is 4.4. I decided to bump the pressure up to 11 cmH20 and I'll see if this results in to a lower AHI reading. Thanks for posting to everyone here because you have all answered questions I've had (even though I didn't need to ask because others have beat me to them) and you all have made this transition easier than I thought it would be.

Three weeks on CPAP - so far so good
Re: Three weeks on CPAP - so far so good
Hey Wally. Glad to hear that your therapy is coming around. I started my therapy on Friday the 13th also. That was my roughest night but I'm getting more and more used to my mask/therapy/etc. My average AHI over the past 19 nights is also 4.4. I feel better during the day now, not dozing off at work and i do have a little more energy. Like you, i'm hoping over time i'll feel better and better. Is your machine data capable? I downloaded Sleepyhead to my computer at home and it is incredibly cool.

Hello Josh, glad to hear your experience is positive as well. I don't know what software my unit came with but it does have an SD card that holds the information. I'll have to look in to the software you mentioned and see if this is compatable. Thanks for the heads up.
