S9 VPAP Auto I:E Ratio

Post by red1 » Thu Jan 26, 2012 9:13 pm

I just got my new Resmed VPAP Auto today.

Can anyone tell me what the I:E Ratio is suppose to be?

My ratios are: Median 1:1.61 95 Percentile 1:1.47 Max 1:1.33

I am a bit of a shallow breather & my median respiration is 21, the 95% is 22 & the Max was 23, is that a bit high? The percent of spontaneous cycled breaths is 98.

Minute ventilation: Median is 8.0, 95% is 9.4 with a max of 17.1

The leaks were a bit up with a median of 0, 95% of 14.4 & it shows a max of 88. I do not see anything on the graph showing a leak 27.6 for just a second or 2. Could that have been from when I turned on the machine without having a mask connected?

Thanks

I have the Resmed S8 VPAP Auto rather than the more up-to-date S9. On the S8 there is no I:E ratio. There is Pressure Support which is the difference between the IPAP and EPAP pressure settings, usually at 4 or 5 but set according to your PSG titrations.

There is a Ti Max and Ti Min ratio on the S8s.

Thanks slinky,

S9 VPAP Auto has the TI MAX & MIN as well. It is full of things I've never seen in the S9 Autoset or the S8 Elite 2.

I do find it more comfortable then the s8 elite 2 & the s9 autoset.

I have the settings set as I did on the autoset. I want to slowly up the pressure to the perscribed bipap pressure. I will slowly adjust the sp over a month, until I reach that setting.

I used it last night for the first time & my AHI already went down again. The autoset for the most part had me at an AHI of 4.8. Last night the VPAP had me at an AHI of 2.1.

Thanks again

I am unable to afford the S9 VPAP Auto new and haven't found a lightly used one that I can afford (or "justify") but DID find a PR S1 BPAP Auto which I was using. Currently back on the S8 VPAP Auto and been meaning to switch back to the PR S1 but haven't gotten 'round to doing so yet. I can be lazier than a pet coon at times.
