Yummmmm... very nice, NachtWürger.

Variation: leave out the spicy, and stir in a dollop of Nutella and a dollop of decent brandy.

You won't notice what kind of cup it's in.

PS: Your name seems somehow very familiar.
NachtWürger wrote:Now an opportunity for my first post.

Favourite hot chocolate instructions

1 litre milk
1 vanilla bean, split
1 stick of cinnamon
2 bars (100 g each) 65% Cacao Dark Chocolate

Recipe
Chop the chocolate.
Heat the milk with the cinnamon and vanilla bean in a saucepan over medium heat until it reaches boiling point, but do not let the milk boil. Best to use candy thermometer to prevent boiling.
Add the chopped chocolate and whisk until smooth.
Remove from heat and let rest for 25 minutes to release the spices’ aroma.
Strain the liquid and reheat before serving.

If you like spicy add one ingredient during first step:
3 tsp whole black peppercorns
or
one split red chile pepper, seeds removed

Serve in 5-ounce cups. Refill as desired.

Larger cups are bounderish.

Enjoy!

Arrived home before dark at 700 ft. after a 3-hour ride.

Did make it back down to the gym this morning for a lower body workout.

Met a gentleman there, ET, who said he had retired recently and joined the gym to get in shape and lose weight.

He was morbidly obese by my estimate. Whatever the BMI is for that category, he achieved it.

ET said he is 62 and asked me a few questions about my routine. How I progressed through the exercises and did I do cardio first or last.

In a thee minute discussion he mentioned that he sleeps a lot of hours, and two more times referred to taking naps. When leaving I asked him if he would watch NFL games in the afternoon. ET said he would probably take a long nap. That is four mentions of sleeping to a nearly stranger.

On the way back to the cabin mused should I have mentioned he needs to google sleep apnea, read the symptoms, and decide whether he wants to discuss it with his doctor. ????

Maybe I will see him again if we go back to the cabin after Christmas. Wonder if I should mention apnea???

NachtWurger is right about that cup. Also, I always warm the empty cup over a burner before pouring the first one.

Swiss Miss?
Chocolate MIX?

They don't even deserve the label, "ersatz."

If you want the real cocoa experience---
A study reported by the BBC indicated that melting chocolate in one's mouth produced an increase in brain activity and heart rate that was more intense than that associated with passionate kissing, and also lasted four times as long after the activity had ended.[5] Cocoa products also contain pharmacological substances such as n-arclethanolamines that are related to cannabis.[citation needed] When drugs are used to block the brain's opiate receptors, the desire for chocolate disappears, confirming the addictive nature of these types of foods.
---you have to use solid or powdered cocoa. Nacht has the idea.

Did anyone check to make sure the British actually know how to kiss correctly? I mean, what's the British definition of "passionate," anyway?

What about when the subjects' chocolate receptors were blocked? Did their desire for opiates disappear? Because I have a feeling that pharmacological substances may have had more roles in this study than were disclosed publicly. Just sayin'.

I haven't gotten on this whole dark chocolate bandwagon thing because of the ambiguity of what exact kind of chocolate produces these great antioxidant (and apparently other) effects. Haven't bothered to research it.

Who needs a bandwagon when you can instead go for what tastes good. Bandwagons are overrated. Tasting good is the important part. If one type of chocolate tastes like dirt (looking at you, high-cacao-percentage-for-percentage's-sake chocolate), pass on it and try the next one. Although, if you can find a good 100% in a small bar, it can be educational to try a nibble.

A Snickers bar tastes good but I doubt it offers any health benefits!

I tell ya, there's been an awful lot of misunderstanding in this thread.

For instance, Olga (The Parts Babe)(BTW, Olga would have won this year's "Bloodsport" competition had she not been DQ'ed)(which is admittedly difficult to do in a sport that has no rules)...

...anyway, I had my webpage open to CPAPTalk and Olga read jnk's post:
jnk wrote:I am now wondering where Dave buys his auto parts. Apparently, if I read HIS post correctly, they are sold by a talking pig?
and took it to mean that jnk called her a "talking pig".

Now she's on her way down there swinging a Hi-Lift Jack fixin' to do a tune up on jnk's head.

That Jeff!!

Once Olga showed up down here, my wife and I invited her to go with us to DQ (since she had been there before, according to Dave) for a hot chocolate, which allowed me to explain to her the whole "Babe the talking pig" misunderstanding.

Everything is OK now, or will be, once my head heals from the auto-parts therapy.

Whey protein isolate powder still comes with a scoop in the can.

Myth: Chocolate is a major cause of tooth decay.
Truth: Tooth decay is primarily the result of poor oral hygiene. Dental caries (another word for cavities) are caused by any foods containing fermentable carbohydrates that are left on the teeth for too long. In fact, there are ingredients found in chocolate products that may retard the tooth decaying process.

Yesterday, Olga noticed how strict the Metropolitan Etiquette Authority has gotten lately in NYC:

So, maybe I'm trying to read between the lines.. Are the police on horseback so busy enforcing the low-rider pants and pedestrian internet posters walking into traffic.. that they don't clean up their horses' puddles?!

good thing I reread for spelling.. I used the wrong consonant 'wa?king into traffic' It wouldn't occur to me as a humorous blunder, except it's a term used in "Long Way Round", a motorcycling movie I enjoy.

The police here seem to have a reputation for a lot of what their horses leave behind.

Underwear is the least of the issues around here, seems to me; I was born in KY, so I'm just impressed so many people wear them up here. And shoes.

And walking into traffic is the official city pastime. Those best at it understand that cars are much more likely to stop for you when they think you aren't looking. So I always pretend to be texting whenever I'm going to walk out into traffic, myself.

Another useless musing.

Speaking of what horses leave behind, I just drove to the gym. Someone had emptied a full automobile ashtray in one of the front parking spaces. Now the gym is at one end of the shopping strip away from other businesses so this had to be someone visiting the gym. Chain smoking and going to the gym. Dumping the ashtray. What a horse's ass.
