Should I unplug machine before I remove card, or return card?

No need to unplug machine. I don't.
It stays plugged in for both removal and insertion.

You can but it is not required. Do look at the LCD to be sure the machine is not writing to the card. Push on card to eject.

Don't pull the card out of the machine immediately after turning it off. I don't know how long you have to wait, but I never bothered to wait more than a few seconds on my M series machine.

The card in a Respironics M series machine is actually a "smart card," not an SD card. If it looks like a credit card, it's a smart card. SD cards are about the size of a postage stamp.

Purple (OP here) has a new PR S1 Auto CPAP with AFlex to play with. Just has not updated Profile.

BTW after some experiments we have determined there is no specific length of time needed to wait to pull the SD card. 5 minutes is for sure good. No need for this Noon nonsense.

Nope. Not entirely. Some people were thinking that the reason no new data was showing on these PR S1 machines was because of that noon time thing even with this machine.

What we have found out was that the LCD screen will not update till noon GMT time (so whatever the machine thinks is noon) Robysue figured this out.

I think some people were seeing this happen and thought it transferred to SD card data because they would say they waited past noon (their time) and had new data on screen when in reality they happened to wait past noon GMT time.

For SD card the data from previous night will be written to the card (no one has watched to see how quick) but we know for sure tested within 5 minutes of turning off machine even if the machine has not reached GMT noon. Robysue is on East coast and has for sure woken up earlier than GMT Noon time and checked the data within a few minutes of getting up.

When thinking Noon we had to think like the machine clock. Not our time or the computer or software time.

So Noon is involved with these machines but it is GMT noon and only pertains to the LCD screen updating.

Edit to add recent discussion.

What I was referring to was indeed a re$med data thingy. Since I never used a re$med I prob have it confused but it had to do with the data on the screen and reading it before or after noon. I seem to think it was before.

I know it didn't have to do with Respironics machines since they don't display much of anything on the screen.

To see ResMed on screen data for the previous night one does have to check before noon but ResMed machines have a clock the user can set to their time zone. After noon the day resets and no data available for that single night until next session starts. I do think they can go further down in the on screen menu to see averages though for a week or something.

Of course you already know for our Respironics machines we can't change the clocks. Preset to GMT and no way to change it. Not even if they start losing time with aging internal battery. I will mention it now for newbies.

And yeah, the Respironics on screen data sucks. I don't mess with it ever but someone might.. so I mention it.

Now, I am wondering where this thinking came from?
