Help reading CPAP compliance report

Post by gijoel » Sat Sep 03, 2011 8:22 pm

I recently invested in a cpap reader to save on the hassle of getting it printed out at the store. Only I'm damned if I can read the sodding thing. I've been feeling tired recently and it could be that my mask is leaking but I can't tell. Can anyone give my report the once over and tell me?

Hope that's enough data. I can send the rest of it if people want.

The Daily Detailed report is the one that I find most helpful.
From what I see you don't have any leaks to speak of. Minimal blips. Certainly nothing to impair therapy but may be enough to disrupt sleep which could impact how you feel. See that leak line? Nice and straight except for small occasional tiny blip upwards.
Your AHI is great. The report is really quite excellent and from this one report... nothing that warrants work to improve.

If you aren't feeling the good numbers (assuming your other reports are pretty much like this one) then maybe look at other factors outside sleep apnea?
Fragmented sleep for some reason? Bed comfort? Pain? Meds?
Sometimes I mention hours of use but I see you are consistently getting good number of hours.

If you want to see an ugly leak line and an ugly report..I have one here. One of my less stellar nights but it was an experiment. I think you can see how your report is so much better than mine.

Thanks Pugsy

Thought it was fine but I wanted to be sure. I've gotten back into exercising again so that's probably why I feel so tired. But I do find myself waking up during the middle of the night. I guess it's just this time of year when it's hot when I go to bed and freezing in the early morning. Life in subtropical Australia I guess

Hi gjoel, I agree with Pugsy, that report looks really good. I notice I feel better with really low VS ( who knows if the machine is accurate on that ), so if you are wakened and not feeling great , you might try a small .5 increase just to see if it helps. Sometimes it's a small thing . Kathy
Any landing you walk away from is a good one; if you don't break your airplane it's excellent.

Joel while I agree that your AHI is within the "accepted" norm, I know for me I can feel it if my AHI rises above 1. Also worth noting is while your leak shown in the Daily Details page is Great - what is shown in the "Long Term Trend" Leak section shows some ups & downs along with a Large leak Avg. This is where knowing which mask you are using is helpful.

All in all you are doing Great and I wanted to say great job in getting your report up for us to see and help with.

Good Job Joel.

I fail to see where data from January to February 2011 tells you diddlley-squat about your August and September 2011 data.

I assume you are using EncoreViewer and I don't know how much difference there is between the two as far as using them but I'll tell you how I'm able to access my recent and/or last night's data via EP2

Once you've pulled up your file or done your download, click on Therapy Data towards the top of your screen.
To the right will appear a box that will most likely say One Week (or whatever).
Click on the checkmark at the end of that box. That will bring up a menu of One Week, One Month, Six Months, Custom, Based on Therapy Mode, Best 30 Days of Compliance.
If you want other than One Month and less than Six Months click on Custom.
Two boxes will come up w/dates in them.
Click on the checkmark at the end of each, one at a time and select the date range you want.
Then click on the Refresh button below the selection box.
Whilst you will get the combined data for that entire specified time period you will only get the last seven days of individual night's data starting w/the 4th page of the report.

It is ONLY in the individual night's data that you will see the TRUE "detailed" information regarding Leak, etc. The rest are just the averages and can be very misleading.

Ooops. Good catchy, Pugsy. The "sodding" SHOULD have tipped me off to the date sequence!!! Color me red-faced!

I wasn't paying attention to dates past the first page.

The 3rd page (page 9 of the 11 page report) is the valuable page. Its the page that shows the true leaks and look at how many and how high the leaks despite the overall leak and time spent in the large leaks. Anything over 40 is a high leak.

Yup, yup, learned that doing genealogy, Gumby.

Of course, when it came to the old Quaker dating .... sigh

And my genealogy software didn't allow for entering the Quaker dating ... what fun. Not!

The report is showing total leak (vent rate plus excess leak). Depending on mask used 40 L/min isn't bad especially since I see pretty much a straight line. Above 60 L/min I would start working on leak if it were me but Respironics won't flag the leak as large and too much to handle till it gets around 90 L/min. Lots of wiggle room when it is being reported this way.

This looks like M series or older machine report. Total leak not unintentional leak.

Hey, Pugsy, did the Legacy and M Series report Vibratory Snore?? Encore and I aren't particularly good friends. I've always much preferred ResScan. But, yeah, Non-Responsive Apnea/Hypopnea instead of Clear Airway Apnea, you're probably right. Good catch!

Not sure about Legacy and VS.. but M series for sure reported Vibratory snores. I had them when I was using the M series machine. I also don't know if Legacy had CFlex which this report shows. I can't see the tiny words to see if it mentions Plus. I can only read CFlex. It is an Encore Viewer 2.0 report though.

Yes, legacy did report VS and had Cflex however comma this report is from an M series Pro.

Joel where are you Joel, what is the make and model of your mask? Joel surface, surface Joel.
