CPAP Battery Review

Post by sleepnationtv » Fri Aug 26, 2011 9:32 pm

Here is a review of the Goal Zero Escape 150 battery pack. Take a look we thought it was a great battery that serves as both a backup for when the power goes out and a battery to power CPAP's when no other power is available.

Let me know if you have other questions about this battery.

Have you used it yourself? Seems lightweight for anything but a small, straight CPAP.

Looks interesting.Seems to be much cheaper on Amazon.com.

I can't remember if GumbyCT said he was able to run a humidifier with the Sears Die Hard charger/power supply. That *may be* a better option...

On a recent camping trip I used a deep cycle battery from Costco, 125 amphr rating, for three nights with the humidifier on. I ran it 7 - 8 hrs each night. I recharged the battery for about 2 hours from the pickup alternator each day. There was about 1/3 charge left after the 3rd night. A deep cycle battery takes a huge recharge effort, a lot more than I expected. Each recharge replaced about 1/2 to 2/3 of the drawdown. I could have easily gotten 2 nights with the humidifier with no recharge.

Yes I have seen people use the car jumper battery packs with the humidifier. They do work but you have to get the DC cable for the cpap. I did test this battery with a cpap but not a vpap. But considering it had a 10+ hour battery life it would probably work fine with a vpap.

not sure if anyone has talked about this elsewhere but this seems like the it battery
its Lithium ion so no charge memory
its light at 4.5 pounds
and it can put out 15A and looks like it will run most CPAP machines for 3 or 4 nights

i'm not a seller i'm a soldier that will be getting this battery as part of my cpap deployment pack.

266 watt hrs is about 22 amp hrs which is good for 1 night w/ humidifier.
