I'm currently using my third Resmed CPAP machine over approximately 15 years and they've made a huge difference in my life. I paid almost $2000 Canadian for the latest one in 2014. The first thing I noticed was that the connection of the $80 tube between the mask and machine would stretch after a few months and had to be taped to the mask. After a few years, the lid disconnected from the humidifier but, fortunately, still maintains a seal when replaced. I wonder if they make a difference anyway because my mouth always feels dry as a bone.

I expect a medical appliance I paid thousands of dollars for to perform better. I'm sick and tired of corporations compromising their products to squeeze out every cent to pay their shareholders with little concern for their customers - even when their health depends on it. I'll never own another Resmed CPAP machine.

You are most likely using a nasal interface and mouthbreathing. This is a big no-no. Learn how to use CPAP properly before you give any more machine reviews.

BTW, I have been using a ResMed AutoSet for 5.5 years. It works so well (AHI<1.0), that I bought a second one earlier this year. The two will be rotated, and hopefully I will not need another machine for ten years or whenever I start my dirt nap, whichever comes first.

Since repairing them for generations, they go in waves which is better.

Remed S7 and Respironics Legacy were about equal, both had their issues and faults. The legacy didn't survive falls very well at all.

Resmed S8 was indestructible as long as you kept water and dust out of the flow sensor and blower. It would start rusting badly if moisture is left in the blower housing. You were breathing in rust and you didn't know it. Also it did have a cold solder joint/design issue on earlier power supply boards. The S8 wasn't as smart as the Respironic M-series but it was a bowling ball of a work horse!!! You could roll it down the hallway and it would still work.

Resmed S9 I just don't care for. It's not repair tech friendly in many ways, their special made tool for the humidifier was stupidly expensive. The System 1 wasn't doing well either until they updated the blower (sensor mod). The 60 series is much better than a non-updated 50. Comparing the calibration procedure, I went with a System 1 for my own use. It is much smarter for "servicing".

Air10 and Dreamstation I don't have a strong opinion yet. So far I have had more Air 10 autoset circuit board issues.

I agree...I love my 3 year old Autoset so much that I purchased a low hour (12) on Craigslist to use as the replacement in a couple years.

Hey LSAT....how would you compare the S9 to your old F & P SleepStyle (I think it was) ? I have never had a chance to use the F & P and was just wondering. Back in 2009 when I started therapy the DME that was my first choice was dispensing F & P machines but the lied to me and told me the model I was getting was full data and I knew the models and it was the brick so I never took possession of it and I fired them for lying to me.

Just curious but not curious enough to want to go out and buy a F & P..

I loved the SleepStyle.(Model 234..Still available). It was my first CPAP and I had no problem adjusting from day 1. I used it for about 18 months and then started reading posts on cpaptalk and decided that I needed a machine where I could see daily AHI. I bought a S8 Autoset on Craigslist. I kept the SleepStyle as my travel/backup machine for several years and then gave it to a friend that needed a travel machine. I see them on Craigslist all the time. As I mentioned in the previous post, I love the S9..quiet, ease of operation, more compact than the SleepStyle, trouble free (so far).

He never came back. Is this because he is happy with the machine? Or, the machine killed him?

Translation note: Whenever a DME says something is 'crap,' it means he doesn't make as much money selling it.

Yep...that's pretty much it. The fired DME who wanted to give me brick F & P absolutely refused to order me a Respironics (M series at the time) because they were "crap". So I got one off craigslist.

I'm working on an ResMed Air10 that has a problem that maybe is going to be a common issue with them. The On/Off switch breaks. The switch on the circuit board itself breaks, so the whole board needs replaced. Bottom line: If you got an Air10 go easy on the ON/Off button, don't be smashing it down.
