ADA, Cpap, airlines rule?

Post by Elder » Wed Feb 02, 2011 9:50 pm

Where can I find the ADA ruling for Cpap's as 3rd carry on for airlines? Lots of information about security clearance, nothing specific to print out from the government.

It's not an ADA issue. It's covered by both TSA regulations and DOT regs. Here is a link to the pertinent DOT reg: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3142&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=0 This link takes you directly to the DOT website and re relavent regs: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3142&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=0 Cpaps may not be considered a carry-on bag for purposes of the 2 item limit. It must, however, conform to the measurement/weight limits for carry-on luggage.

You already know about TSA and clearing the bag/machine through security.

US airlines must comply with DOT regs. Foreign airlines do not have to.
