Thanks, Madalot. I try, though I fail at it on a regular basis. And I'm not sure I always agree with everything I say, either.

I'm glad you're on this board. You continue to be an inspiration to many here.
I really appreciate this. Those two sentences above warmed my heart this morning.

Jnk, you have always been kind and helpful to me, one of the first to reach out to me when I found my way here in January, scared, confused and so overwhelmed with my situation. And even though my personal circumstances have taken so many strange and confusing turns, even taking me out of the cpap/bipap world, you have been one of many that have encouraged me to stay here to get whatever information and help that I could.

So many of you have been able to reaffirm for me that there may be a few troublemakers here, but overall, this is a really great place to be.

Thank you.

All I can say about Chat is that two years and four months ago, I tried it on this Forum, once. I had my teeth kicked in because I couldn't figure out how to set colors and things like that -- it was a totally new chat system to me, even though I've been on-line and participating in chats since the days when they were done in ASCII and you had to belong to CompuServe or AOL to participate.

No one was interested in answering questions.

The objective of the evenings was to make tacky comments about my lack of knowledge about everything, from the chatware to CPAP. This happened on several occasions.

And so, I said, "To H-ll with it." I left the Chat, and I haven't been back.

I ask questions on the message boards and if I have an answer for someone else's question, I'll provide what information I can. But participate in Chat here? Nope. I've got better things to do than subject myself to that kind of abuse.

As someone who spends a fair amount of time in chat, I want to apologize for the way you were treated. That is inexcusable -- and nobody that I would spend any time chatting with would behave that way towards another member or guest.

I think there ARE times that things get a little out of hand, but overall it's a really pleasant place to spend some time getting to know other people. I've gotten to know several people in the last few months -- many of which I now consider good friends.

If you ever decide to give it another try, I think you would find it much more pleasant with people being kind and considerate, and patient with any new person that needs a little help.

I can promise you that if I was in chat and saw somebody treated the way you describe, I would chew some butt over it.

Seriously, I'm sorry you had trouble a couple years ago -- that's so wrong.

Madalot,

Thanks -- I didn't let it stop me from continuing on with the Forum. <wry grin> I've been away too long from regular posting.

There are plenty of good folks around here, I know that.
