mask free loan program

Post by cortez356 » Tue Dec 07, 2010 2:23 pm

Awhile back Babetter started a program where she was loaning out the Nasal Aire mask to anyone that asked. Unfortunatley some did not return the mask. I have faith in human nature ( sometimes) and wondered if anyone is interested in starting such a program. I am not organized enought to plan and supervise but would like to hear of others are also interested. Any mask would fit in one of those USPS "if it fits it ships" boxes so the shipping costs could be predetermined. CPAP users could actually try a mask under real conditions not in an office. Everyone seems to have a closet full of masks that are going to waste. Any thoughts??

I think this could be of real help to a lot of people, especially the new hoseheads. You ususally only get one mask from the DME and it isn't always the one for you. I am now on my 4th mask and will be trying another one (I bought it) next week. After a month I finally found the sweet spot with my Swift LT and it is working great for me. I want to find a second "backup" mask that is either a nasal or full face for the times that my nostrils won't tollerate the pillows because of colds etc.. Good luck.

I am so busy right now but I am willing to start this off. I will put a few masks in a box and ship it out to someone to test. If someone wants to keep a mask they can or they can add a mask. This way a few people can get a free trial. Now just figure out who gets it first. I don't have a pet free smoke free home but even if you get a new one t has to be washed. How does this sound?

Hey Everyone,

My name is Dane and I am the founder and one of the hosts of Sleep Nation TV. Also my family ownes a DME business specializing in Sleep Apnea therapy. I would be willing to sponsor this type of program if there are those that would be interested.
Here is my proposition:

I will make two trial masks available for every mask and size on the market. We usually only carry the major brand masks but I will see what other masks I can get my hands on. Here is what I can provide.
- The full line of resmed masks
- almost all of the respironics masks
- THe fisher paykel forma and zest series most of the sizes
- I can get 1 of the hans rudolph
- A bravo mask
- A hybrid

I can mobilize the program from our site http://www.sleepnation.tv

I will get full contact information from everyone who uses the program so that we can insure we get them back and the program continues. I would love input and help from those that want to help organize and get the word out.

Let me know what you think.

This sounds like a wonderful opportunity. Put me on the list for a hybrid! There is a thread about trading masks, but it does not have a "sponser", so I am not sure how successful it is.
Here it is:

How will this affect our host ? Will this be a sales pitch for the TV/DME sponser?

I am interesting in participating. I would like to try:

Mirage Liberty or Innomed Hybrid
Full life Full face
Optilife Nasal Pillow.

I am looking to try any mask that does not have a forehead piece. I can't tolerate the forehead piece due to previous head injury and facial scars.
Diagnosed 08/31/10. Titration 9/02/10. Started CPAP 11/01/10. Auto mode 10-15cm. Alternate mask GoLife for her. Back up mask Full-life full face w/Pad-a-cheek mask liner. Comtec CMS F50 wrist pulse oximeter. Sobakawa Cloud Pillow, Sleepyhead software

Thanks so much, Dane!
What a wonderful and generous gesture - and a great way for us, specially newbies who weren't given an opportunity to 'try out' different masks, to find something that might work better for us and a peaceful, unbroken sleep.

Cheers!

This all sounds great to me!

I don't know if it was covered in that other thread link above, given to us by ChelseaChestnut, because it is presently 29 pages long. So can anybody tell me what's the best way to sanitize a mask you get on a trial basis even if it's already been sanitize?
