Since no one seemed to be having major problems with 3.12, I went ahead and updated from 3.11 to 3.12. Unfortunately, every time I try to start 3.12, the program gives me a window about configuring ResScan and then I get an error message about not finding ResScan.msi. In fact, I get that error message twice. I can cancel out of it twice, see an error message that the installer was not able to continue, but then the program appears to start okay. I have to go through all these steps and see all these error messages every time I start 3.12.
Anyone know how to fix this?
P.S. I solved the problem by completely uninstalling ResScan, rebooting, and then reinstalling 3.12 from scratch. My data was preserved and available after I reinstalled. Apparently the problem was caused by installing 3.12 over 3.11, without uninstalling 3.11 first. Not good software design, but easy enough to work around once this is understood.

What is the difference between 3.11 and 3.12 and how did you save your data when you uninstalled 3.11?

Breathe Jimbo, I had an identical experience upgrading from ResScan 3.11 to 3.12 - same ResScan.msi error, also fixed by a complete uninstall then a fresh install.
I'm running it on Windows XP SP3 inside VMware Fusion 3.1.1 on MacOS X 10.6.4 - not sure if that makes a difference.

Re: ResScan 3.12 Installation Problem - FIXED
Not sure what the differences are between 3.11 and 3.12. I assume bug fixes.
I did not need to do anything to save my data before uninstalling and reinstalling 3.12. The data appears to be unaffected by the uninstallation and reinstallation. Must be kept separate from the program files.
Running Vista under Boot Camp, so this appears to be an upgrading issue independent of the OS.
