I've been struggling with my cpap for seven years. I can't average but slightly over 4 hours per night, no matter how hard I try. But I've decided, at age 72, I'm not going to give up, or take this OSA lying down. So on the last visit to my sleep doctor, I told him I wanted to try something else. He wrote me a prescription for a 2-week trial period on a bipap. I took it to Apria (my DME supplier) and they gave me a new System One Bipap. I asked them if I could trade my old Autoset S8 for this one if it helped me. He said "we'll just let you keep them both." (so I'll use the S8 as a backup, or to travel with)
If this doesn't work, I'm going to get the surgery done. I've already talked with an Orthodontist who does them, even if he said he's never operated on a man this old. Heck, what's age? It's just a number. I told him I was a "young older guy". He's going to do the "jaw replacement thing" - 1 night in hospital, 6 wks soup-thru-a-straw deal. First, I'll see how the bipap does. (thanks to Apria)
As I said, I'm determined to defeat this thing, even if it kills me. I'd rather go down fighting than to lie there and die. Do you blame me?
Jay

Re: New System One BiPap
Recommendation... find Uncle Bob and pick up the software from his signature.
And no I don't blame you for trying bipap.
