where to buy oximeter for s9 autoset?

Post by elena88 » Fri Aug 13, 2010 8:33 pm

Im trying to find the oximeter that goes with the s 9 autoset. I called cpap.com and they are not carrying it.

Does anyone know where to get it? Do I need a prescription for this darn thing? Do I have to find a dme to get it?

Does a cpap/apap and related supplies prescription cover an oximeter? ( I have one of those prescriptions)

When I download my s nine graphs it has an oximeter graph too, so I am assuming there is a place I can actually plug
that into my s nine right?

Okay thank you!

elena

You need an adapter and an oximeter that works with the S9. I saw the oximeter listed in the manual the other day. I believe the manual said the S9 was compatible with Nonin something or other. LOOK IN THE MANUAL. You need to know first what you are looking for before you start asking where to buy it.

Elena, this recent post should answer some of your questions regarding the S9 Oximeter Adapter and the separate Oximeter: viewtopic/p506125/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=5 ... 35#p505235.

I'm using the Contec CMS Model 50-E pulse oximeter, which is about $140. It comes with software. Although the data doesn't plug into ResScan, you can print out the oximeter and ResScan graphs and compare them by eyeballing, or you can size images in a graphics program to line up the time lines if you want to get fancy, like this:

Image

The green graph is Oxygen Saturation, and the blue graph is Pulse Rate. The apnea events graph is digitally sandwiched in between those two graphs. The red event is an obstructive apnea, and the others are centrals. That night, my AHI was 0.6. Here's a brief explanation of the areas that I outlined in red:

1. Desaturation associated with the 10-second central apnea. Notice the sudden pulse rate drop at the same time. My pulse rate drops like this every night at about the same time. I believe this is a sleep state transition.

2. Desaturation to 87 (lower than my sleep study), associated with another 10-second central apnea.

3. Several desaturations, associated with a central and an obstructive apnea.

You should start your own graph and chart page, just so we can follow it.. the newbs would love it! I would!

One issue is to get the entire oximeter it will run you over $800 and a DME will be your best bet right now.

Hope this Helps

Just finished night one with my new 50E pulse Ox, recording all night (8 hours). I went to download and somehow got it into the record mode again, which deleted all data. Just a small learning curve, ran off the road and hit a tree.... It did stay on all night without taping it on, I thought for sure I'd have to hunt for it in the morning. Will try again tonight, and be more careful in the A.M... As far as the product, works great, and Cooper Medical Supplies service is outstanding. Jim

thanks goof proof..

My husband wants me to get an oximeter now.....

I was hoping to get one before my vpap titration this week, but if I get busy I bet i can get one pretty quickly..

I bet one of these days, the cpaps will all come with a little oximeter already attached.. ...

oh, and I think cpaps are going the way of the dinasours, all of them will be autopaps..
