IntelliPAP auto firmware upgrade
IntelliPAP auto firmware upgrade
There is an IntelliPAP Auto firmware upgrade V0.21 18/05/2010:
http://marketing.sunrisemedical.com/DeV ... /Instr.htm
I can't find infromation about SmartFlex and QuickView.
SmartFlex sounds something like CFlex.
If that is the case, is Intellipap now comparable with Respironics features?
Does anyone have more information ?

Re: IntelliPAP auto firmware upgrade
Nobody has IntelliPAP?
Or maybe no one is interested in an upgrade.

You could PM user: DeVilbiss Marketing They post occassionally about the Intellipap machine. Ask them directly....perhaps they will respond. Click on Members in menu bar above and look for their profile...on that page you can PM the user.

Re: IntelliPAP auto firmware upgrade
I have two IntelliPAPs, and I don't see any reason to do a firmware upgrade. I am a gray beard UNIX and Linux system administrator and I am very conservative about applying patches and doing upgrades. If a patch or upgrade doesn't fix a security problem or an actual problem that affects my servers, it doesn't get applied.
Re: IntelliPAP auto firmware upgrade
Got a Mac... do have Win XP in there for my old Encore, tho' now use IP without the software, but the read-outs tell me what I need to know for now until such time as I feel the need to know more (and have been pretty stable for 6 yrs, latest AHI 0.5 and feel good).

Re: Smartflex
As of this month, IntelliPAP Auto is now w/Smartflex (EPR). I found this quote on another site:
"For many years the marketplace had only two major manufacturers that offered the expiratory relief technology - Respironics has CFLEX/AFLEX, and ResMed has EPR. On August 1st, 2010, all that changed when DeVilbiss released the IntelliPAP Auto with SMARTFLEX. The IntelliPAP Auto was already a consumer challenge winner over the Respironics REMstar Auto with CFLEX - this challenge was won before the release of the SMARTFLEX technology. Consumers are now presented with the same machine, with all the features of the previous Intellipap Auto, plus the added, important feature of expiratory pressure relief."
I assume the firmware update is to include the EPR information in one's data collection?????

Never mind, I didn't realize the flash file covered about ever XPAP they made rolled into one, I'm use to flashing one type of ROM. Looks like it might be a good upgrade, providing it doesn't KILL the XPAP.
Flashing Firmware isn't for the faint of heart. Jim

Re: IntelliPAP auto firmware upgrade
That is not correct. The firmware update for the Auto Adjust is this:
SmartFlex is added to the Autoadjust in the firmware update.
V0.21 18/05/2010
*
A new SmartFlex feature was implemented in this release.
*
A new Quick View feature was implemented in this release. The displayed Quick View information matches the SmartCode reports.
*
The AutoAdjust delay feature was changed to add a delay pressure setting. The AutoAdjust delay now works like the CPAP delay (pressure starts at delay pressure setting and ramps to the lower pressure limit). The delay button must be pressed to start the delay (no longer starts when the blower is turned on).
*
Implemented various translation corrections based on customer feedback.
*
Moved the hour meter parameter from the patient menu to the clinical menu.
*
Added the serial number parameter to the blower off menu.
V0.19 21/08/2009
*
The Adherence Score was updated to better accommodate breaks from use during the night. Please note that this change only applies to data collected after the update.
*
Added a low backlight disable feature (setting in Enable Menu). When the setting is disabled the keypad and LCD backlight will completely turn off when the blower is OFF or after one minute of inactivity.
*
Added a feature to allow the user to access the SmartCode and Adherence Score data with the blower OFF. Pressing the LEFT or RIGHT arrow keys with the blower OFF gives access to these values.
*
Fixed an issue with Clinical Menu entry. On prior versions of firmware, the language could have been inadvertently changed during the prescription unlock key sequence.
*
Added a new Auto-ON/OFF lockout setting. This feature allows the health care provider to lock the Auto-ON and Auto-OFF settings from being changed by the patient.
*
When Auto-OFF is enabled, Auto-ON is also enabled and cannot be changed. This assures that if a unit shuts off (Auto-OFF) due to a mask-off condition, that it will also automatically turn on when the mask is back in place. Auto-ON can only be disabled if Auto-OFF is first disabled.
SmartFlex is added to the Autoadjust in the firmware update.

Re: IntelliPAP auto firmware upgrade
The new SmarkLink v. 2.0 is now released. Cpap.com is now carrying it as of last night. The machine has been upgraded to include SmartFlex (same as EPR or A/C Flex). My discussion with a DeVilbiss rep tells me the software has a number of enhancements.
As a cpap newbie, I have decided to try this new machine and software. It seems to measure up nicely with the two popular brands at a considerable savings to the end user. I will let you all know what I think of the machine and the reports the software generates.

Re: IntelliPAP auto firmware upgrade
I'm confused - I have the intellipap autopap - does this mean I can do the firmware and get smartflex? I am going to order the new software - was waiting for the new version.
Drats - I don't have the cable or I'd update. I'm going to see if I can find a cable at Fry's tomorrow.

Re: IntelliPAP auto firmware upgrade
Cpap.com now has the new software on their site. I don't know enough to tell you if upgrading the firmware would invoke a new feature on your machine. I would think not, but you should ask someone at DeVilbiss. On cpap.com's site, it says: DeVilbiss offers minimal technical support for installing this product. Technical support can be reached at 800.338.1988, Option #2. I would give that number a call and ask them your question.

Re: IntelliPAP auto firmware upgrade
I just spoke to technical support to clear up some questions on these new software/firmware releases.Emilia wrote: Technical support can be reached at 800.338.1988, Option #2.[/i] I would give that number a call and ask them your question.
1) The new firmware includes SmartFlex (Devilbiss version of EPR) and is being loaded on new machines, but has not yet been posted for download. They said this is coming soon. The firmware online is the previous version.
2) The new SmartLink software, which takes into account SmartFlex, is available, but they haven't decided if a free upgrade would be made available to existing software owners. (I think it would need to be if the firmware is upgraded then the data software would no longer be compatible.)
I think lack of EPR was the major reservation people had against the IntelliPAP. Hopefully the addition of SmartFlex brings the machine up to (and maybe beyond) par.
Re: IntelliPAP auto firmware upgrade
And, to do a firmware update, you do need a special cable - I tried to use a ps2 to usb and it wouldn't recognize the machine. My windows 7 could wouldn't recognize the machine. Doe there need to be additional drivers for the computer?
And, cpap.com doesn't have the software available for purchase except in the complete package w smart module - i.e. $149. The $39 and $55? are the 1.6 version of the software.

Yes, the firmware upgrade requires the special cable which connects to a serial port on your PC, if your PC still has one. Most devices for the past decade use USB cables.mgrunk wrote:And, to do a firmware update, you do need a special cable - I tried to use a ps2 to usb and it wouldn't recognize the machine. Also, their website does list the SmartFlex feature in the release notes. I won't know if the firmware actually has it until I load it.
