Re: Only prescription from US doctor
Did you try to order from cpap.com, another online vendor, or from your DME? Cpap.com will accept international prescriptions (https://www.cpap.com/cpap-faq/Prescriptions.html), but other online vendors do not (like CPAPDiscountStore). I don't know about DMEs.

Yes. Best advice is the advice that I got.
White out the Doctor's address before scanning it or just find a US MD that will give you an Rx based on your offshore Rx. There are rules that they operate by these MD's and it is not very difficult to get a US Rx especially if you have a friend or relative stateside that has a good GP. Their GP will call your GP and the next thing you know you will have a US Rx in hand. Mind, you are going to pay for a 'visit/consultation'.
Have you been refused service based on your Rx? ResMed is treading on very thin ice if they institute a policy of whose Rx their equipment will be sold under. That is just not right.
Couple of years ago we went stateside for an extended vacation as was our habit before H1N1 and CPAP - I forgot to pack all of my medications. Ooops. We carry a list on a laminated card and just happened to drive by a clinic - stopped in and paid cash for the visit (got reimbursed by insurance, but we won't go there) and walked out with an Rx for the whole shebang which we filled at a local pharmacy (and got reimbursed by the insurance company but we won't go there). Mind you, no Percocet for the back and hip but we managed. And our month on our back on life support seems to have uncompressed the disks that were giving us grief so we just take Tylenol now.
So. Don't know where you are located but you have a few choices now. If you are near the border or taking a trip stateside, drop in and see a GP with your Rx - chances are he/she will give you a duplicate if you explain the situation. I have not needed to do that. Methinks that ResMed is trying to protect their Canadian market or something. Would not surprise me as the pricing up here is a LOT higher than stateside due to the lack of competition.
The masks that MediGas sells for $350 cost me $50 stateside. So I am trying a few new ones to see what I like.

Fall colours. One of God's gifts. Life is fragile and short, savour every moment no matter what your problems may be. These stunning fall colours from my first outing after surviving a month on life support due to H1N1.

About the evil part.
I don't think slinks deserve a break though.
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

Maybe you should import them and resell them in Toronto for a reasonable markup!torontoCPAPguy wrote: The masks that MediGas sells for $350 cost me $50 stateside. So I am trying a few new ones to see what I like.
I'm workin' on it.
Re: Only prescription from US doctor
I seriously doubt ResMed has the authority to monitor which prescriptions are acceptable. The laws governing prescriptions belong to FDA and as far as I know, they have not delegated their authority to equipment manufacturers.birubendi wrote:i have moved to Florida last december and tried to purchase a Resmed Swift FX but got rejected as ResMed has a new rule.

Maybe somebody should complain to FDA about this.

Re: Only prescription from US doctor
I am upset that i have to go through the trouble to get a Rx.
I order it from CpapXchange, if ResMed lay this new rule, i am very sure all the others online store will follow suite.
The CPAP online stores should knows that all Rx should be acceptable, why do they have to follow ResMed 'Rules'???
how many non-amercians is using CPAP.
I guess i will just switch to another brand, they are not the only company that provide good mask. This really pissed me off.

Re: Only prescription from US doctor
Here's their policy:
http://www.cpapxchange.com/cpapxchange- ... olicy.html
They won't sell you ResMed or Respironics equipment, but you can buy other brands.
If you are happy with another brand of mask, then your problem is solved. If you are not happy with any other brand, then you have options:
1. Buy a mask at http://cpapauction.com/
2. Buy a mask off of http://craigslist.org/ -- you can even post an ad in the relevant city on craigslist.com saying you want to buy a mask
3. Look for masks at flea markets.
4. Get established with a doctor there in Florida, which you are going to need to do, anyway. Show him your prescription from your doctor, and see if he will write you one like it. Heck, some doctors will write a prescription for you any way you want it to be.
5. Call the local county health department and ask them for suggestions.
