BILL BOLTON WAS RIGHT!!!!!!!!

Post by brain_cloud » Mon May 17, 2010 6:04 pm

I got a call from Norco today. (To catch you up--had a retitration study on the 10th; tech told me they stopped at 21)

The conversion nearly verbatim:

Norco RT: "The doctor sent the order over and we need to adjust your pressure. Shall we set up a time for you to come in?"

Me: "What's the new pressure?"

Norco RT: "21"

Me: "But the machine only goes up to 20."

Norco RT: "Right, we'll have to give you a new machine."

Me: "A Bi-level?"

Norco RT: "No, the doctor did not specify a bilevel machine. Let's see, you are using an S8, correct? I would have to take another model, the Escape, and go in and adjust the altitude setting."

Me: "..."

Norco RT: "Or you could try to get the doctor to specify another type of machine."

Me: "I'll get back to you."

LMAO!!!! That jerk actually thought you were .... naive .... enough to get suckered into GIVING them your S8 AutoSet in exchange for an Escape????

They are REALLY crooks of the worst sort!!! I'd sure be telling that bait and switch tale to the sleep doctor and the sleep lab and the state sleep association. Let them all know what a slimey bunch of crooks that outfit is.

Norco in Boise, Idaho, eh??

I go to the branch in Meridian, Idaho. But isn't it even worse than that? It would be swapping a working S8 for a "broken" Escape. If I ever wanted to change the pressure, I would need a decoder ring to tell me what to set it to to equal what I wanted it to be.

just an idea - not sure it would work or not

manometer and fine tune adjustment manual - get your machine to think it is putting out 20 but really putting out 21

We've been down this road on the other thread a bit, but even if it were possible, I want the cool machine with a million knobs to turn. My doctor will write the prescription for the bilevel.

I am not taking altitude adjustment - I have seen at least one other thread - I am talking when machines are slightly off the pressure setting, a tech can fine tune adjust it. I have the directions for how to do it with my everest though I have never tried it - I have been tempted as it only goes full steps and I need a pressure that is x.5

if this was discussed outside of the altitude adjustment sea level reset etc. then I did miss it but I had seen viewtopic.php?p=480128#p480128

No, you're right; I wasn't being careful. (I still want the million knobs though.)

There is nothing like a bi-level. After using a bi-level you wouldn't even want to use a cpap at 17 - never mind at 21.

Part of your prob could be you just are NOT exhaling.

OH, I just did a search on Idaho in hopes of finding feedback on DMEs. Norco was just AWFUL to me and they tried time and again to squeak extra money from me with shady billing practices. They also employed the RT who set my pressure to almost double what it should have been. This was during the same time period this thread was started. I will never send a penny their way again.

So your DME thinks he is a shade tree mechanic. Great. You kept your cool better than I could have.

I notice that you are already using the S9. If you don't mind me asking, I wonder what interests you about the S8, as the S9 seems like a very nice machine? My Dr. had me use the S8 Auto for at home titration and it was great. I am trying to get the S9 because the light weight hose option really appeals to me, though.

Aw, thanks for answering. I didn't realize that machine was bi-level.
