Do we need a secret society? Aren't we anonymous enough? We're all hoseheads here, no need to be shy.

I agree with PetrusKy. Why not just start an S9 newbie thread here? Let this be that thread. Because it's a well-known place with lots of traffic, it will be more likely to be helpful to a wider audience. Or you could post newbie hints in the wiki and link to some of them in your sig.

Yeah, some of read the S9 threads avidly. There will come a time when I can spring for one, so I might as well learn all I can about 'em as I wait for that time to come

I also would like you to stay posting all with the forum. I'm considering change to the S9 and would like to read instructions as well as positive and negatives.
Thanks,
Happy Sleeper

In the last 5 years, I was involved in moving many maling lists to forums

Mailing lists is bad for privacy and only good for spammers to collect e-mail address.

This suggestion is a backward move - not a good idea

and frankly, e-mail mailing list is hard to manage, wasting time, it only benefits those who collect e-mail address for spamming

child porn is definitely OT but other OT topics are freely allowed here - even U Conn Huskies Women's Basketball information

Maybe we need jnk to set up a poll on what is and isn't OT here and what is and isn't allowed.

Distribution of software that is illegal to sell, but medically necessary is one topic I can think of that might be suitable for PM (or off-forum communication).

Defamation of character in a public forum by innuendo or insinuation is something well worth erasing. Consider: it cheapens forever the name of a forum member and can equally be construed for posterity by future readers as cheap entertainment for the perpetrator at the expense of other honorable and valued forum members. It's ironic that this forum is about better sleep. I could not sleep at night knowing someone made a truly filthy and unwarranted accusation in a forum about me. How about you?

In this particular case, I'm requesting that Johnny or Carolyn please erase this entire thread. I am diminished just for having read it. Forums are about building community and bridges. Helping is better than hindering. There is nothing constructive here.
