First Data In, Should I Try for Better?

Post by newhosehead » Sat Mar 20, 2010 8:01 pm

Hello All,

First things first, I finally loaded an avatar..I am planning on sticking around and this is my sweet dog.
Now, on to the other stuff. I have my first weeks data from my new machine (software has not been received yet) but I have an average from my machine for the first week and AHI is 2.2. That seems very good to me from what I have read on here, but I wonder if I should be aiming for better. I am finally feeling much improved in this, my third month of treatment, and since I did not have data before, I dont know if this is improved or not. The only thing that changed when the machine was changed out a decrease in pressure from 14 to 12. Not to overload you with the history, but I began at 10, got the initial burst for all of two days and then went downhill. Had an overnight pulse ox which showed some desats so doctor ordered pressure raised to 14. I thought that was a big jump, but did not question it too much.

After that jump, things just continued to get worse and I finally got an order to go back down to 12...a move that I delayed while I fought to get the machine changed out. So...much wordiness later, here I am with my new machine, set at 12 for a week now and I am really feeling better. As I said, software is on the way so I will know more then, but am just curious about this AHI average. Thanks for any input you might have.

Can you include your equipment, this might help others better guide you.

AHI <5 is great. Can you tell what Ai and Hi numbers are?

My equipment is listed on the signature line below in text. As I said, I dont have the software yet and all my machine screen options are AHI, large leaks and periodic breathing.

What a sweet looking dog in your avatar picture, Jeanette!

Your AHI sounds very good. If you're feeling better, I wouldn't worry about trying to tweak it for now.

Thank you! She is a sweet dog, very smart and very protective. I appreciate your input, it is so good to feel the improvement, I just really wasn't sure if I should be aiming for better. Since today was Saturday, I thought I might take a nap and after laying down for about 5 minutes, released I really didn't feel like I needed one, that I would rather get up and do something. Wow. Amazing.
