PR system One auto - first impression
after sleeping with this device for a week, so here is my first impression:
cosmetics:
what's bad
1. size: larger than M series
2. color scheme: one word; ugly. The 2 color scheme use the beige color that reminds me of the old PC compatibles in the early 80s, the other color is OK
I like the new S9 look, the color scheme and look is grander and smotther finish
configuration:
what's bad
the filter now is placed at the bottom, which make it easier to suck dust. Should be placed on top
what's good
the 2 button and menu system is simpler and setting up needs no re-booting process as before
* no more of that blue light (that many love to hate)
Humidifier: overall the humidifier is most improved - in my case now only 25% water is used per night and this is during winter)
end user impression:
the good
1. it is now easier for me to exhale in the first few second after using the device, before that with the tank and M series I have problem in exhaling in the first few seconds
2. the response time for auto-on is now better than M series
I use A-Flex setting of 1 and the sleeping experience overall is better
The software: encore pro 2.2
Not for the more faint-hearted and technophobe to install. Have to search & download 2 components not packaged before we can do a proper installation. respironics should packaged the install with those missing components all into the DVD so that users do not to search and find those missing components.
Once installed however, it will work and created the usual reports.
( how to produce the Waveform report? - mentioned by others in this Forum)
3. if somehow you forget your login password (you have to use password 1 in the beginnning and then chaged to your own password) - the software asked you to contact Respironics to get a special code. Do not do that. Just uninstall the software and then install again and the make sure you know the password... just write this somewhere...
Overall: ignoring the cosmetics, you get better user experience.
suggestion to Respironics:
1. put the filter placement back to the top so as not to suck in the dust
2. changed the color scheme, Copy Resmed S8 color scheme...
Special Note: my PR System has no GMT offset menu. Anybody else has this missing GMT-offset menu?

Re: PR system One auto - first impression
Still waiting ffor mine to come in the mail. Starting to worry about installing the software and setting the machine to the proper parameters. I"m getting it (PR APAP) new from from a second party supplier, so I've only seen pictures of it. Right now I'm using a loaner M series APAP that starts to moan about 430 every morning. so it's hard to sleep past then.
Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.

Under Patients on the Therapy Data tab - if there is a little blue icon (of a wave) on the right end of the daily datas you can click on that to produce the waveform report. It seems the waveform data is available on the SD card for the last 1 - 2 days, so daily downloads will store all the waveform data to your computer.cpapernewbie wrote:after sleeping with this device for a week, so here is my first impression:

The GMT offset is in the Setup menu at the bottom of the list. (you can access the setup by pressing the ramp button and the wheel simultaneously for 5 secs)

Sham
thanks to you, I have managed to view the Waveform reports. I have to know how to analyze this report, but i feel not so comfortable to see many CAs and PP or whatever the terms is, popping up here and there. Probably I should see a sleep doctor but I have no insurance - so might as well learn from the websites
I am able to setup as I also wrote here: "
"the 2 button and menu system is simpler and setting up needs no re-booting process as before"
However in my auto CPAP, the menu GMT Offset is not present, so that all my reports my one night sleep is split at least into 2 charts
The way I see it, the software shall be able to overcome this problem by just setting up my time zone (PST) but I cannot find where this setting is hidden

Re: PR system One auto - first impression
Mine does have the GMT-Offset setting but it's in the clinician menu. Do you know how to access it? When I plug the machine in, it shows the firmware version as 1.13 (right after it shows the Respironics logo on the screen as it turns on). What is your firmware version?cpapernewbie wrote:Special Note: my PR System has no GMT offset menu. Anybody else has this missing GMT-offset menu?
As for the cosmetics, the size does not bother me and I find the machine nice looking. It's a medical device and is not meant to be a style statement in anyone's decor IMO. Yes, the S9 looks better but the S8 looks a lot more like a medical device and I much prefer the System One's looks than the S8's... matter of taste I guess If it didn't have a hose plugged to it, the System One would not stand out in a room any more than a clock radio or any other electronic device of a similar size.
What matters to me most is that it makes breathing with a machine all night a lot easier than I expected when I was first diagnosed with severe OSA back in October '09. I really worried that I would have a hard time adapting to CPAP therapy. So far so good after 17 days. The System One is also very quiet and, to me, that is very important too. The other thing that's key is the level of data it provides (with the Encore Pro 2.2 software) which really helps me monitor my treatment and confirm that I feel so much better for good reason. My treatment's working with last 7 days AHI at 1.9 and 30 days (well 17 really) average at 2.4. I'm happy!

Hi Pyxlized
that is an excellent idea to check the firmware version. I followed your tip and it looks like that my firmware is 1.20
I am keen to know from those with the same firmware, can they access the GMT-offset?
( I am aware that you need to access this through SETUP menu and that's the place I am looking around but the GMT offset is not there...)
I will appreciate also if somebody can guide me to a good info on how to read the waveform report...

Yes but not the patient's Setup menu. The GMT offset is not there. You need to access setup in the clinician menu. Select Setup in the patient's menu then press and hold the ramp and main knob buttons at the same time for 5 seconds. The machine will emit a double beep and you'll then enter the clinician menu. Select Setup in there and the GMT Offset setting should be there. It's one of the last items in the list for me.cpapernewbie wrote:( I am aware that you need to access this through SETUP menu and that's the place I am looking around but the GMT offset is not there...)
If that's what you were doing then I'm sorry for re-stating the obvious. Maybe that setting was removed in a firmware version later than 1.13.

I have gone through the settings of preesure range, humidifier seetinsg etc after pressing the 2 buttons. Otherwise I will not be able to use this auto CPAP properly. FYI I am able to set all my CPAPs (2 M series and this new one). However as I mentioned, the menu for GMT offset is simply NOT there, eventhough the Clinician's Manual mentioned this too.
I am interested to know from fellow users with same Firmware (1.20) whether they can view and access the GMT offset. It is frustating, since now my reports are not properly setup

Re: PR system One auto - first impression
I have version 1.13, and the GMT offset is there. Is it possible that in the newer firmware the GMT offset is set by the Encore Pro software, via the card, in the same way that the EP 2 software can change the pressure of the machine and other settngs? Have you set the time zone offset in Encore Pro 2.2?cpapernewbie wrote:Pixelyzed

I guess another alternative is that it is there in the Clinicians Setup menu, but they moved it, although I would think you could find it in that case.
If it were me, I would be calling whoever provided the machine and I would be insisting that they show me how to set the time zone properly, or do it themselves, if they don't want to show me.
Maybe the most likely scenario of all is that they simply screwed up in the new firmware release and didn't notice or didn't want to take the time to fix it. Can you roll back the firmware to 1.13? Again, a question for whoever provided you with the machine.
Good luck, sorry I can't help further.

Re: PR system One auto - first impression
I've now had three nights on the System One Auto, so I'm ready to share a few first impressions.
As to the design, I personally like it. Compared to the big clunky looking M Series, this is low and sleek. It looks at first glance like a clock radio (although most clock radios don't have a hose coming out of them!). The swivel hose is very nice compared to the fixed hose of the M series.
The one button system is well designed, and seems far more intuitive than the old four-button system of the M series. Once I got hold of a clinician's manual it was easy for me to set up the machine just the way I want it.
On my M series I used a C-flex setting of 2. On the System One I find that I only need a setting of 1. The breathing is much more natural. I feel like I'm sleeping well. Once I get Encore 2.2 I'll have a better idea of my actual numbers.
I'm amazed at how much less water I'm using every night, yet waking without a dry mouth. The new humidifier works beautifully.
Quiet. In fact, it's funny. The first night my wife complained it was too quiet, and now she could hear my breathing through my mask! In the past that was covered by the sound of the machine. No complaints after the first night.
All in all I'm very pleased with my new machine. It's a huge improvement over the M series.

I have look high and low in the CPAP menu and the GMT is nowhere. After reading yr post, I also recheck Encore Pro 2.2 and look carefully at the PRESCRIPTION menu. No GMT... the only GMT I can find is in the Glossary Greenwich Mean Time (time zone)
I bought my PR System One from an individual , not from a DME - it is still in package and he has not opened it at all. It is" new in the box" He is not aware of the missing GMT and do not know on how to off set the time zone. One thing though, the documentation of this unit is still reflecting the older Firmware, where you can find GMT in the SETUP menu using the 2 buttons bootup.
All in all, the device work as it is suppose to work. The Humidifier is a quantum jump ahead of the M series. Probably my next move is to sell this PR System one and move to S9

To set the time zone in the Encore Pro 2.2 software, select Company Settings, then select the company name (Encore Company was the default in my software), then select the Offices tab. You should see the time zone that the software is set to there. Seclect Edit to make changes to the time zone and to the Daylight Savings Time option (DST Observed) if desired.cpapernewbie wrote:Barry

Have you tried doing that? If so, I am out of ideas, sorry, unless you can get the 1.13 firmware somewhere. Good luck.

Re: PR system One auto - first impression
Hi Barry
I just switch on my PC, read your suggestion on the company setting and then hurriedly launched the Encore Pro.
Lo and Behold, you become my life savior! Encore Pro is now recalculating my data and although there is a message that said it might take a day or so, I believe it will take less than 30 minutes. There is only about 2 weeks of data there and this should be no problem
Yes, there is no need for GMT setoff in the CPAP device setup menu because you can always do this time shift calculation in the Encore Pro 2.2 itself.
Great solution and thank you Barry!

Re: PR system One auto - first impression
just to report on what have happened since I click the GMT settings in Encore Pro 2.2 software
There is a message in that software that tells you that Recalculation is in progress and 0%
after more than 30 miniutes it is still 30%
so what i did is just plug in my SD card for today' report. Lo and behold, all numbers has been shifted to my PST zone GMT-8, everything now looks good!
Hope this Lessons learned is useful to all users who has new PR System One with FIRMWARE 2.20 or newer.... I guess those who get their PR System One manufactured January 2010 or later. Good luck and thanks to all, especially my savior Barry

Re: PR system One auto - Firmware versions
I have PR S1 with firmware version 1.20, and I can confirm that the GMT offset is not accessible from the Clinician/Provider menu. I will follow the recommendations of the previous posters, and see if I can effect the change using EncorePro 2.2.
Since I am on the West Coast, the GMT offset is a real drag for me ....
