Free -- Basic CPAP machine

Post by JZ » Sat Jan 23, 2010 10:26 am

My first CPAP is taking up space in my closet and I want to give it to someone who will put it to use. It is a REMstar M Series Plus C-Flex with heated humidifier. Here is a link to the cpap.com information about this machine:
https://www.cpap.com/cpap-machine/Remst ... chine.html.

It is a good basic machine, but is not data capable (provides compliance data only). I used it from October 2006 to February 2007 when I upgraded to a better machine. It only has 820 blower hours on it.

I have the CPAP, heated humidifier, power supply, AC power cord, carrying case, and user manuals for both the CPAP and the humidifier. My preference would be to give it to someone who really needs a CPAP and does not have insurance or the finances to buy one. Please PM me if you are interested.

What a nice offer, JZ. You're a good person. (Hope someone who really needs it can put it to good use.)
Veni, vidi, Velcro. I came, I saw, I stuck around.

That is very kind of you, JZ! May your generosity come back to you ten-fold! I hope your machine finds a good home.

That really is a nice offer. I'm sure there's someone who will benefit from your generosity. What a blessing.

Thanks for all your kind words. So many people have been of assistance to me on this forum that this is the least I can do to show my gratitude.

I heard from an individual who was downsized out of a job and insurance and will be sending the machine to that person. I am just sorry it took me so long to get this CPAP out of my closet and to someone who needs it. I am a world class procrastinator.

Last summer there was an ad on Craigslist for a person wanting a CPAP that didn't have the money for one. By that time I had one I use and a travel/backup machine, so I figured they could use my old original Sullivan V. I called her and she really sounded sleep deprived and pitiful and I was glad to give her the machine. Patty also donated an old Breeze mask and I tried to set it to a pressure of 9 like she asked for. I told her about this forum and that should have the pressure check by a DME and wished her well.

A month later there was an ad on Craigslist for an "older CPAP machine with a setting of 9 with some kid of nose mask" Only $50. I had to laugh a little, but was sorry she couldn't make it work.

You are a good man, JZ.

dmallet - if you register as a member (it's free!) then people can send you private messages about machines they might have. Can you give any more information about what kind of machine that was prescribed for you?

Hello, Dmallet. There's a nonprofit organization called Awake in America that helps individuals without health insurance, with inadequate health insurance, or without the financial means to obtain a free sleep study. They also supply free xPAP equipment to those who can't afford it. See their website for more information: http://awakeinamerica.info/donaterelief/. You should qualify for their assistance.
