I'm really taken back with the tragedy in Haiti. It's going to be a while before we can fully comprehend the magnitude of this natural disaster.
Haiti was a charity case before the earthquake. Dysfunctional, to say the least!! The human suffering is hard to imagine or accept.
I don't know if Red Cross will transport blood products down to Haiti. None the less, I'm going this afternoon and donate blood. Since moving, I've stopped donating every eight weeks or so... Time to start again!!
I've noticed, since first coming to this Forum, the folks who post here are very special. Caring, loving people who take care of themselves but also give back to the community. Hope you find it in your heart to give and pray for these people who are suffering in such a extreme way.
Take care,
Mark aka SG

Re: OT- Tragedy in Haiti - Donating Blood RC
I'm not eligible to donate again until the end of the month ... but that is a great idea you suggest.
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.
Re: OT- Tragedy in Haiti - Donating Blood RC
Good for you mark. Unfortunately for me I'm unable to donate blood. I'm not allowed and never will be.

Good post SG!
I gave money to World Vision, because they are local, and I know about their work, and trust them.
I can't give blood either - they won't let me because of my asthma. Go figure. Anyway, I'm a horrible draw, so I'm relieved.
So please, someone, go give a pint for me, okay?
Hugs,
B.

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.

I use to give blood every eight weeks or so. I can't anymore because question have been change to where I'm disqualified because I was over seas in the '80s for so long (18months). The blood bank says says because of mad cow deciase, I ask what about the 6 gallons I have already donate?!?!

I'm just astounded at how picky the Blood Banks are.... I donated every eight weeks at the National Institute of Health in
Bethesda, MD. Had no problem... And, they had MD's swarming around checking all the time.
The day I posted this topic, I stopped by the Red Cross. They were pretty 'fat and happy' with a waiting room full of people who made appointments. Long wait to donate so I bagged it... At that time, no call for Blood because of Haiti.
Makes sense, no refrigeration and the Infrastructure in Haiti is in such poor shape. I thought at least, blood products would have been stocked on the RC ship 'Comfort' and The Karl Vincent.
I watched some unedited footage of Haiti the other day. If there is a Hell, this is it. Unbelievable!! And, I spoke with someone in the Military about what's going on... Obama policy, fly over in Helicopters and push the supplies out the side.
It's just a 'no win' situation... I don't think we'll ever know the full breadth of the tragedy! 200,000 dead might be conservative yet...
