Mate to rescue.....or, bending bar on pillows

Post by sharonious » Mon Dec 06, 2004 4:04 am

Respiratory therapist visited for 3rd time. She could not get doctor to agree to autopap. Says I have to wait until I see the pulmonary doctor who read the results of the sleep study. I see him in January. I plan to listen to all he has to contribute before asking why the nurses did the second sleep study without CPAP, just like the first one. I am hoping he doesn't need it to advance therapy to maximum benefit. Therapist will order a mirage for me and maybe that will help. My husband stood and observed nosepiece (nasal pillows) and noted that it seems too wide. It was leaking air hugely. He gently bent the metal bar that goes over the piece and squeezed the two sides closer together. Would you believe, it stopped the leaks. It fit. I got 6 hrs (3 hrs on, 1 hr. off, 3 more hours on) sleep with adjusted pillows. Adam from this site said perhaps I was wearing the wrong size pillows. (Thanks for the heads-up on that one.) The small was wrong. So was the medium until my husband adjusted it. Maybe we'll get this thing under control. Thank all of you who answered my posts.
