cheaper Card Reader for Respironics M series
cheaper Card Reader for Respironics M series
hi everyone,
My DME just provided me with a new respironics M series 200 with cflex.
I'm getting the software to view my progress, but does anyone know of a cheaper smart card reader that can retrieve the data off the smart card?
I've looked high and low on the message boards but i can't afford to pay so much($60).
If you know of one that works please reply or PM me.
thanks,
VVE

Re: cheaper Card Reader for Respironics M series
The M Series 200 I think, is the Plus model so will NOT give you any detailed data. It will only give you compliance (how often you use it). The software and reader will not be much use to you with the Plus.
For detailed data you need the "Pro", it's the M Series 400 or the M Series "Auto (500).

Re: cheaper Card Reader for Respironics M series
Sorry but it's a REMstar Plus Mseries Model 200M with data card.
I havent read anything that suggests it doesn't provide detailed data. I am aware the 100ds doesn't provide data.
If i'm incorrect about the 200M please send me a link that shows otherwise so i can clarify what i should get.
thanks a million,
VVE

Re: cheaper Card Reader for Respironics M series
The Plus does NOT provide anything BUT hours of use. Search this forum or the Respironics site or anywhere on the web for that matter.
The Plus really is NOT a Plus anything.
Oh did it come with a manual?

I am making progress-NOW I remember that I can't remember

If this isn’t rocket science why are there so many spaceshots?

Re: cheaper Card Reader for Respironics M series
I always check the models at cpap.com. If it doesn't show optional software, stay away from it.
Look at this page: https://www.cpap.com/cpap-machine/respi ... -cpap.html
Note it says, "Optional software: No".
I hate it when this happens to people.
So sorry.

That model has data:
https://www.cpap.com/cpap-machine/Remst ... chine.html
The lowest I have found the reader is about $50

Re: cheaper Card Reader for Respironics M series
Hello again,
Wow. The machine isn't exactly the one i just bought thru the DME. this is it on the remstar site: http://remstarplusmseries.respironics.c ... tions.aspx
According to the specs online for a REMstar Plus M series 200M: http://remstarplusmseries.respironics.c ... tions.aspx
Data Storage Content: SmartCard: Date/time, hours of use, usage patterns, FOSQ
So i compared it to a Remstar Pro M series specs link: http://remstarpromseries.respironics.com/
Data Storage Content: SmartCard: Date/time, hours of use, usage patterns, AHI, leak, snore, FOSQ
WEll well well what do you know...the 200m doesn't allow AHI, LEAK, or snore info.
thanks to all of you.

Hey, cut him/her some slack. He/She is sleep deprived. Back off!
Sorry you got a no-frills machine. See if you can upgrade to a Pro or Auto in the M Series, and we can help you.
For future reference, here are some card reader choices, for when you can actually get some useful date off your card:
Mako DT3500 USB (Infineer)– $39.00 + $13 shipping = $52.00
http://www.minamielec.com/
Mako DT3500 USB (Infineer)– $49.00 + $15 shipping = $64.00
http://www.securetech-corp.com/mako_dt.html
Mako DT3500 SmartCard Reader USB - $54.00 – shipping unknown
http://www.cpap-supply.com/Mako-DT3500- ... dt3500.htm
Infineer (Mako DT3500) Card Reader from https://www.cpap.com - $139.00

Good luck!

Re: cheaper Card Reader for Respironics M series
Thank you to everyone,
For showing me the different links that show the details i was missing.
What's funny is i usually catch these details, but not until some of the friendly people on this board took the time to find, type, and show me links that i needed to see.
Thanks to you all, especially babette, for your help,
DYNE540

Re: cheaper Card Reader for Respironics M series
That table should be put on a stickie somewhere on this site for Respironics/Remstar users.
I couldn't easily find the link at all.
kudos to all that helped!
Type of Data Collected
The type of data collected from the device is determined by the device model.
Basic Usage Data devices measure and report patterns of use along with therapy settings, including pressure, pressure relief and humidification. The device identifies patient therapeutic use when the blower is on and breathing is detected via a flow sensor.
Advanced Compliance Data devices monitor and report on patterns of use along with abnormal events that may impact the efficacy of the therapy. These events include apnea, hypopnea, snore, flow limitation, non-responsive apneas and large leak. The device identifies these abnormal breathing events via an advanced algorithm that uses both flow data and pressure data inputs generated by the flow sensor and pressure sensor of the device.
Below is a basic explanation on how these events are calculated.
Apnea Detection - The Respironics REMstar algorithm establishes a baseline of patient flow based on a moving flow signal window - it detects an apnea as an 80% reduction in flow lasting at least 10 seconds.
Hypopnea Detection - The Respironics REMstar algorithm establishes a baseline of patient flow based on a moving flow signal window - it detects a hypopnea as a 40% reduction in flow lasting at least 10 seconds, followed by a recovery breath.
Snore Detection - Snoring is a measure of partial airway occlusion and is a strong indicator of potential respiratory events. The Respironics REMstar algorithm has the capability to detect snoring vibrations and adjust the pressure accordingly.
Flow Limitation - The Respironics REMstar algorithm analyzes the flatness, roundness, peak and shape of each breath throughout the night and determines a gross change in these characteristics as a flow limitation.
Non-Responsive Apnea / Hypopnea - At higher pressures, if a patient does not respond to pressure increases due to apneas or hypopneas, the device will automatically convert to a CPAP for a 15-minute period and an NRAH notification will be conveyed to Encore.
