Need help for stuffy nose nights
Need help for stuffy nose nights
Hi all --
Overall, I've been adapting to life as a hoser pretty well, although last night was the first rain out I've had.
But the current grass allergy season finds me w/ a stuffy nose and difficulty using my Swift for Her mask. I'm on all kinds of allergy meds and I've begun saline cleanse again. However, I think I may need an alternative mask for nights like this.
Any suggestions?
Lori

I use a Full Face mask for this, any one that fits you will work fine.

Sounds like you may have your humidifier set too high. See my post in this thread: viewtopic/t43278/Very-dry-mouth-amp-thr ... yHELP.html

Have you tried the "Sleep Right Nose straps " . I have been using them for about 3 years, ever since my doctor warned me about nose sprays. It takes some
getting used to, but compared to getting used to the mask and straps, it will be a piece of cake. If you have a "Target " in your neighborhood, you can buy
their brand for a lot less the the named brand straps.

For the past 2 wks, I've been using one of the azelastin antihistamine nasal sprays and having a lot less congestion. If you're not already using one, ask for your doc for a sample and try it. No systemic effects for me.lanndi wrote:...I'm on all kinds of allergy meds...

get a Neti pot!!!
really has helped me and several friends thru allergy season.
it ain't a "cure" but offers much relief.
you can do a search on this list for more details about what it is.

the best long term treatment for mucus is nasal or sinus irrigation using a netti pot or other things advertised on the internet, look up sinus irrigation on the net

I have allergies & I have had to use Nasonex spray this allergy season. There are samples, maybe your doctor can give you a sample to see if this helps. It has helped me tremendously!lanndi wrote:Hi all --

lanndi,
This sort of question keeps coming up in this forum, and the most useful information I've found about it appears in this thread, which is very, very helpful:

Same here, I also rely Nasonex, but I find it takes a few days of use before providing significant relief. For more immediate relief, my Dr. gave me some samples of Xyzal, an oral antihistimine which seems to work really well at clearing out congestion from allergies -- I use it when they get really bad. The only thing I don't like about Xyzal is that drowsiness is a side effect; it makes it tougher to get out of bed in the morning.BonnieG wrote: I have allergies & I have had to use Nasonex spray this allergy season. Long term Nasonex user also, it has the added advantage of reducing the size of polyops or tissue obstructions over time. Don't confuse it with the OTC stuff. The OTC stuff is baaaad for you.

Yeah, considering Nasonex is a corticosteroid, vs. some weird concoction that dries out your sinus tissues, causing nosebleeds and such...Rustyolddude wrote:Long term Nasonex user also, it has the added advantage of reducing the size of polyops or tissue obstructions over time.
