Obesity is a risk factor, not a prerequisite for OSA.
Am I a fluke or is it possible I was misdiagnosed? I also only snore mildly. Are there any others out there that aren't extremely overweight that have OSA?
What is your neck size? 17" or greater in men and 16" or greater in women is also a risk factor.

As others have said, there are plenty of thin people with OSA -- so you're not a fluke, and it's unlikely that you were misdiagnosed.

Thanks for the advice, Tom, but I find xpap an acceptable solution for me. After reading your earlier posting, I'd say you are considerably braver and tougher than me, and I admire your diligence with respect to the twins.

I'm not obese either, but have severe sleep apnea. It took forever for my dr to send me for a sleep study -- because I didn't fit the profile. When I mentioned that to the sleep dr he said that 80% who have apnea are obese -- and so that leaves 20% who are not. I've not seen those numbers anywhere else, but I'm just reporting what he said. I'm very glad that I was finally diagnosed and now receiving the benefit of my cpap.
