I have a card reader, is there any way I can check what it says myself?
I taped my mouth for the first time last night ( a little freaky ) but the worst was removing the tape. I thought I was going to rip my mouth off. Any advice on this??
I have used a chin strap for 2 nights now and think it has helped tremendously BUT my jaw hurts this morning and my cpap is saying both nights that I have a "large leak" any thoughts on this? as I did not detect any. thanks
I'm currently off work as I had knee surgery, so I'm trying to nail this down.

Hi, well you need to have the software (and computer of course) for the reader to send the data to your computer, where the software program interprets it and shows you various results (like mask leak rates, and AHI - the main number you want to see). I don't use your machine, but I think if you go to Cpap.com and look for your machine, you'll also get information on the software. I don't know which card reader you have and it matters - they're very specific to the programs and you can't just use some generic one. As far as the strap goes, many people find them to be ineffective, and generally try a full face mask if a taping trial makes you feel better in the a.m. What tape did you use? The 3M micro- or trans-pore tape (often on a Scotch tape like roll) is usually available at any pharmacy, but not in the 'stationery' section, more likely with band-aids, etc.

If you tape regularly:
1. Shave every day, including weekends.
2. Tuck your lips. (Make a "toothless granny face", and bite down gently so both lips are between your teeth. Press the tape on your skin...your teeth will provide a good backing so you can press firmly.) This way the adhesive isn't stuck to the sensitive surface of your lips. Some people apply chapstick before taping, but I've never found that necessary. Some people also use moistened Poligrip strips between their lips...but I've found that's a sticky mess in the AM. I was spitting it out all morning!
3. Fold a tab on one (or both) ends of the tape, making it easier to get a good grip. This is a night-time safety thing as well as making things easier in the morning.

I have found that a light coating of Milk Of Magnesia on the skin to be taped helps. I wipe on a bit then after it dries wipe the area gently with a tissue to remove any excess. I also use chapstick on my lips and turn them in.
