First night at home on BiPAP

Post by Plowboy » Wed Apr 29, 2009 5:19 pm

Man, not as easy as it looks. I wore it all night but kept waking up, I resisted the very strong urge to take it off. I think my mouth falls open after I go to sleep so I aquired a chin strap today to see if it helps. Its pretty comfortable, more so than I thought but I kept focusing on my breathing and had a hard time relaxing, I have to go out of town Sunday and am not looking forward to it.

But will continue come hell or high water...........

OK Plowboy... you're my inspiration because you are a day ahead of me!!

I try my new bi-pap tonight for first time... along with a newer mask. I have tried cpap before and failed miserably. But I am committed this time and I will post my success (hopefully) as I go along.

I hope we can encourage each other and both with be reporting feeling much better in a couple of weeks!!

GOOD LUCK my virtual friend!!

TG,

Thanks for the response, not sure why but after several posts my reply level is pretty low. I did procure a chin strap today to help with the mouth breathing, much luck to you, just tough it out, I feel like Im being friggin smothered but I am going to make this work, I have to much life left to live.

Take care my friend,

Phil

Hang in there (chinstrap and all )

Getting the mask under conroll has its moments but great when it all comes together.

DSM
xPAP and Quattro std mask (plus a pad-a-cheek anti-leak strap)

Hang in there kid. There's a new blog about all issues with regard to helping people sleep better, not just CPAP devices. Go check it out. I had trouble sleep walking, people thought it was cool but really i wanted some answers just like anybody. Nevertheless I didn't want to be pigeoned as a Parasomnia.

Since you've already been diagnosed with OSA and have already received a machine, a much more useful blog to check out than the one Kyle mentioned (which gives only passing mention to sleep apnea) is the one Mile High Sleeper created:

ResMed S9 VPAP Auto (ASV)
Humidifier: Integrated + Climate Control hose
Mask: Aeiomed Headrest (deconstructed, with homemade straps
3M painters tape over mouth
