Bought ResMed Elite S II with humidifier, card, scanner and software from CPAP.com about 3 weeks ago. All works great BUT I can not get the computer to "see" the scanner, so can not look at data. Called CPAP.com and they said they do not support the software so look here or call ResMed. Called ResMed and was told they only support software for suppliers not patients because the FDA says this is a provider-controlled device and they have told CPAP.com not to sell the scanners.
I just read most of the discussion with Mike, the DME person and why people want their data. The FDA is a new wrinkle on that.
So - who can tell me why the scanner is not perceived by my computer? The software seemed to install fine; the card seems to download data fine; but the software is telling me that no device for flowing data is installed.
Thanks,
Lindalrc
HELP - ResMed Scanner
Re: HELP - ResMed Scanner
If I understand you correctly, your card reader isn't being recognized by your computer. Correct me if I'm wrong. If this is the case and you're running vista, disable your network adapter ..under device manager, and all will be fine. Make sure your "re enable your network adapter"-- after you're finished downloading data to enable you to connect to the internet again.

The same thing is happening to me on my computer running Vista (the one that I usually use) but the reader works on my laptop, which has XP. Now I know why...thanks,freepostg wrote:If I understand you correctly, your card reader isn't being recognized by your computer. Correct me if I'm wrong. Re: HELP - ResMed Scanner
this advice was sent to me by tattooyu although i did not need to use it ...
1. Unplug the card reader.
2. Install BOTH the card reader and USB adapter drivers with ResScan.
3. Boot into Safe Mode (XP).
4. Plug in the card reader.
5. Reboot in normal mode.
That allows me to plug/unplug the reader at will now with no problems.

Re: HELP - ResMed Scanner
Ok thanks...I'm going to try that now because disabling the network adapter didn't work for me. Plus the above way is a lot more user friendly since I like to download the data everyday and it'd be nice if the scanner would work on vista without doing a bunch of things everytime I use it.Uncle_Bob wrote:this advice was sent to me by tattooyu although i did not need to use it ...

Re: HELP - ResMed Scanner
Does the adapter plug into a USB port? I have read somewhere that the Resmed stuff is custom hardware.
Lions can and do snore....
Re: HELP - ResMed Scanner
Yes it does, the adapter is actually based on a generic piece of hardware that retails for around $25 but it has a card guide added. If you do some searching there are some posts with instructions on how to make your own card guide to go with the generic card reader.timbalionguy wrote:Does the adapter plug into a USB port?
