OT: Prescription Vit. D and GERD anyone???

Post by grumpygirl » Tue Apr 28, 2009 3:26 pm

Hello ALL- Had my vit. D levels checked last week after reading some info. posted here a few weeks ago. Mine were very low also and started taking my 50,000 IUs at lunch today. Well, I don't know if it is just a coincidence or what but I have had AWFUL GERD all afternoon. Anyone else have this problem with the Vit. D prescription? If this is a side effect what on earth will I do now?? It seems lately that everything thing I take that is supposed to be beneficial for folks over 50 has some rotten side effect!!! I'm so frustrated!! Thanks- GG

I would find it hard to assume it's not related. I'll tell you something else though - I recently heard/read from reputable sources (but don't ask me which ones right now that the Vit. D thing has been hyped out of proportion along with a whole lot of other vitamins and supplements - i.e. just eating right (and getting some sun every day) still works a lot better and is more effective than all the other stuff, and in fact, in some studies the vitamins, etc. were found to be negligible in terms of any real benefit at all... but what a great industry to have stock in, eh?
