Sleeping through alarm.

Post by Juliebove » Mon Apr 27, 2009 9:44 am

So I had a new one this morning.

Daughter and I both have the same battery operated alarm clock. Apparently they take three batteries. One for the lighted dial and two for the clock. The clock batteries died in hers, and the dial battery died in mine. I decided to replace all batteries, seeing as how we got them at the same time and all batteries were put in at the same time. So far, so good.

So I was having a crazy dream. I won't go into all of the details but in the dream the alarm wouldn't shut off. I beat on it, cut the wires, etc. and it wouldn't work. So I had taken it outside to throw it out, in somebody else's trash can. Then suddenly (in real life), daughter began screaming at me. That's when I noticed that the alarm really was going off. Somehow I failed to set the two alarms on my clock radio, even though I seem to remember doing it. And she failed to set her alarm. Either that or shut it of and went back to sleep.

Now 20 or 30 years ago, sleeping through alarms was common for me. In fact I set 5 of them in various parts of the room and still wouldn't awaken. I wonder why now this would start up again? I should add that both daughter and myself are very sleep deprived due to the thoughtless actions of another family member. I won't even get into that story here because it will just make me angry all over again. So maybe that's why. I don't know. I had a heck of a time getting her to get up. She kept shouting, "I know! I know!", and then would go back to sleep.
