What does my A flex button do?

Post by Brushy Hollow Bill » Mon Apr 20, 2009 2:56 pm

It is on my remstar machine on the far right. It says it gives me less pressure when I exhale. Why do I want that? If I push the button more than once will I get a double whammy. I asked the people that supplied the machine to me but I now seem to know more than they do and I know nothing.

I know why I have the ramp up on the machine. It is there to make you suffer more while waiting for leaks to start when it comes up to full pressure. It is like putting a guy in the electric chair and telling him we are going to set a timer so you can sit there in the darkness pondering your crimes while time runs out. It'll be fun.

That button says "Flex" not "A-Flex" on our machines. I have the same machine as you do.

It will allow you to change the "flex" ( I am assuming it works for C-Flex and A-Flex on our machines).

If you open the flip up door and push the +button to get into "setup", you will see "A-Flex" and the numbers 1, 2 and 3 below the word. You can push the + button (under the flip up) or the "Flex" blue light button and it will toggle 1, 2 or 3, depending upon how much exhalation relief you want - a little (1), a little more (2), the most (3). To not have A-Flex at all, you need to go into the clinician's menu and turn it off. Your pressure just goes down a bit (1,2 or 3 - however you set it) for exhaltion with each setting of A-Flex (or C-Flex), if you have A-Flex or C-Flex turned on.

I haven't tried but, I assume the same thing happens if you are using C-Flex. It's just a comfort feature.

C-Flex and A- Flex are different types of exhalation relief. Some people use them, some don't. It's a matter of preference. Sometimes, if your therapy pressure setting(s) is high, a little relief on exhalation may help breathing.

Now that you have found the door unplug your machine, then hold down the two arrow buttons at the same time while plugging it back in. this gets you into the clinicians panel and allows you to set many things to your liking. When you are through looking and setting, just push the ON button and that takes you out of the clinicians setting and back to the users setting. Just do not change any setting you are not sure of or what it does.

There is only cure for feeling like, "A BLOATED SAC OF PROTOPLASM!" and that is some serious log time.
