Help ... EncorePro Installation Problem

Post by janp » Sun Apr 19, 2009 10:54 am

My husband is trying to install EncorePro and is running into a problem.

We really need help ... neither of us are Windows savvy.

The laptop is running on Vista 64 Home Premium. As best as we know, all of the prerequisite files/updates have been loaded prior to loading EP. SQL Server version "SQL Express 2008" has been installed.

The driver for the DT3500 has not yet been loaded.

We're getting an alert that says that "unable to connect to specified database". In EP, the pulldown box for the data base server only shows "JOHN-PC\ENCOREPROEX".

Any and all suggestions desperately needed.

Thanks,

Jan

Encore Pro does not run on 64 bit OS as I understand.

You would have to get something like Virtual Box and install a 32 bit version of windows (I suggest XP) as a client.

Thanks for the response.

Actually, this one does ...

Anybody with experience working with SQL?

We sure could use your input. Our experience is strictly with a Mac. Translation: we're groping in the dark.

Thanks builta ...

I appreciate the response.

Unfortunately that's for using the 32 bit program in a Vista 64 bit environment.

Jan, I have not done this yet and am dreading the day I have to go to Vista. Some people on the board have gotten Encore Pro to work even on the 64 bit version. My understanding is that you have to go to Microsoft website and get the driver for the card reader. If I remember my installation on XP the Mako 3500 driver must be installed before you install Encore Pro in order for Encore Pro to find the reader. Several that have gotten it to work on the 64 bit system have come back and said it worked for a while and then gave problems.

Some are still able to use it on the 64 bit Vista. Maybe one of them will jump in and give you some help. Good Luck.
