Can I come back.... please

Post by Brushy Hollow Bill » Sat Apr 18, 2009 4:07 pm

Sorry, about posting about the truck wreck. I didn't know my words would make it political and offend someone.

First, I always think outside the box and usualy go against the question that you asked but sometimes they help. ..Example,..(YOU) I can't sleep..(ME) Go find a boring forum and discuss boring stuff.

Second, I can't learn and I can't make a fool of myself if I am not here.

Third, I promise to stop PM'ing people to ask them if they are real.

Fourth, I will be good.

I didn't know you'd "left".......

You're definitely not the first person on this forum to put their foot in their mouth. Welcome to THAT club.

I think if you're not pissing someone off here,

Thanks for your return approach.

Close to 3 years ago a new guy on the forum was enjoying himself and we were enjoying him. In his picture he appeared to be one of the slender folks with OSA, which we know here is not unusual in spite of the stereotypes. Apparently he had not read all the threads about how sleep apnea can actually contribute to weight gain, and how devastatingly exhausting it can be for some. He made a remark that seemed to equate weight with laziness. I think he was really a nice guy who just had bought into a stereotype and had no personal experience with the issue. (Isn't that how stereotypes work?) He regretted his offensive remark, once he realized how hurtful it was, and I think in the end he was hurt most of all by the change in the dynamics of his interactions here. I had hoped he would stick it out, but unless he came back under another name, I think he went away and stayed. That saddened me, because he was so happy to be here.

Glad you chose to return. By the way, I like your writing style.

Kathy

Thanks, I really am a great guy but I do have a Southern tongue that developed along the same times that Elvis and Johnny Cash decided there were better ways to make a living. We do tend to speak in metaphor and half sentences.

It was a good post. Kind of frightening, but good to know no one got hurt seriously. That kind of thing is one of my worst nightmares.

I think you're gonna have to try harder if you expect to actually offend anyone. If someone seems to give you a hard time in this forum, I think it is usually an expression of endearment. At least, I assume that's why people give me a hard time! That assumption makes me feel loved, anyway.

True that. Hang around.

Well, if you PM me, I may not reply, because I've always been a total fake.

Say WHAT??!! Someone may use those words against you one day, pal.

And for the record, you do not have anyone's permission to ever leave again.

Just kidding.

Do what you want. It's all good.

People around here seem pretty forgiving to me. Either that or maybe it's just that our short-term memory problems keep us from being effective at trying to hold grudges!

Your thought about being fake is what made me paranoid. I had gotten so bad I was having dreams while talking to people. I knew I was beyond the pale but I thought it so cool that I was sort of enjoying it.
I did enjoy the 70's ..no BS.

Well, I have the exact opposite problem with this board: reverse paranoia. (I assume everyone is out to help me behind my back.) So far, I've found everyone helpful. But a reasoned measure of caution on any public board is a good thing, I think.

If you can remember the 70s, you weren't really there.
