No Mask

Post by Rodc » Fri Apr 17, 2009 5:01 pm

Hi:
I have been using the no mask system and I find my only trouble in getting the mouth piece to fit without making my tongue sore. I have been carving on the molding and I think I have it fixed. Does anyone else have this problem ? What did you do to fix it?

I don't use that device. I do have retainers that my orthodontist had made for me after my braces came off. When that started rubbing on my gum, I showed it to my dentist. He brought out a little device that looked like a dremel tool, and he ground on it just a little bit, cleaned it off, and had me put it back in my mouth to see if it was still rubbing. He repeated these steps until it felt fine, and I've had no trouble with it since.

I had the same problem. The mouthpiece edges were giving me sores on my gums. I tried several things to smooth them that didn't work.

I finally had an "aha!" moment and went out to the shop and got my husband's soldering iron. I cleaned and disinfected it first, and then used it to smooth those darn rough edges. It worked like a charm!

Then I went out and bought my own soldering iron at Home Depot and stuck it in my "xPAP tool kit box." They're about 15 bucks. I think Radio Shack carries them, too.
