Feeling Bad Today after using Intellipap

Post by Georgio » Fri Apr 17, 2009 8:04 am

Another night the Intellipap for whatever reason didn't provide the therapy I need, and my AHI shot way up.....after making the therapy adjustments suggested by DevilBiss. See thread Intellipap vs. M-Series above for data.

Georgio - I have been wondering if you had tried the intellipap auto again and how it went. Sorry to hear that, even in close consultation with Devilbiss, you still don't do well on that machine.

It looks like it is not a good machine for you!

Hope you don't have too bad a day today!

Today isn't going to be a good one, however I'm investigating what to try next in case I give it another shot. I'm playing guinea pig so we have more information.

Well, good luck, but remember, your health is your first consideration.

Georgio, thanks for the information sharing attitude!

However, if it were me I'd just stick with treatment that is known to work well over any guinea-pig type experimentation that doesn't seem to treat me all that well. We can still analytically indulge in safe, theoretical "what if" or "maybe that's what's happening" type discussions---hoping to better understand the situation. Health and safety really must come first.

We'll eventually get the ins-and-outs of AutoAdjust figured out, with the help of forum members and an unusually accommodating DeVilbiss staff.

It's very generous of you to post your travails for all of us to read. I do hope that you can figure out a solution that will get you back to feeling well asap.

Thank you all, I understand your concerns. An hour nap on the M-Series got me back on my feet. When I turned it on my thoughts were A-Flex seems to allow my breathing to feel so natural, maybe I just sleep better with it and it's perfect for me. (I never have an AHI over 1, and 0.1 is very common) I'm so grateful it's what I selected, and reasonably certain it's what I'll stay with.

It will be awhile before I attempt the Intellipap again on the new setting. I would like to be able to rely on it at least as a back-up some day. And since the machine was provided free for the purpose of the challenge, I want to investigate it's adjustments to see if it can work for me. I will post the result when I do.

Thanks again for all your thoughts and guidance.

How HAVE you had the DeVilbiss machine configured? (Either previously or per their suggestions)

Have you had it configured the same way your M Series was?

Here are the settings I have tried with the Intellipap & M-Series numbers: (I suspect that DevilBiss and Resperonics are not measuring their flow percentage changes from the same "base line" and that they cannot be compared equally, and probably not set the same).
I plan to bump the hypopnea % to 60 next time for a night on the assumption that 40 made me feel worse more quickly than 50.
